Okay, I was at a friend's the other day as part of some joint effort to get a job (I wasn't the one making the effort), when we stumbled upon something which has to be amoung the most geekily disturbing things I have ever personally witnessed (although, given the number of geekily disturbing things on the internet it probably isn't that bad on a scale of things).
A list of tasks to complete for the week, and timetable, belonging to her brother. For Runescape. Seriously, I knew that twelve year olds with internet access are generally horribly confused and prone to this sort of thing, but I'm not sure I want to be in the same room as someone who has a list of things like: "20:00 - collect eggs, 20:20 - get wood; Thursday's food list - Bread CHECK, Cake CHECK, Swordies x 3 ----, Cheese CHECK." and so on.
Anyway, I'm aware that there are worse cases of this sort of attachment to RS, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to deal with it. Nothing too drastic - anything above moderate permanent physical or psychological damage is probably going too far, but I would like to wean the kid away from the dark side. Maybe one day he's only making post-it notes, then before you know it he's shooting CTs and Pigsticking IRIS members like any red blooded teenager. Any ideas?
