Wheather you hate Israel or not, it doesnt matter, they are not ment to represent the people who inhabit there country.There country is just a product of the Holocaust.After World War 2 alot of jews could not return to Gernany, how would you feal if you were forced to move back to a country where they tortured and burned your people.....you couldent look those people in the face yet alone be there countryman. So The united states and great Britan [The major allies] came to the conclusion that it would not be fair to put them all back in germany and dividing them into diffirent countrys to learn different languages and cultures that would be just cruel especially to a people who have been threw so much....So they decided to give them Isarael, granted i dont believe it was such a good idea but they needed to do something, So alot of the jews who made it threw the holocaust ended up having there own country and vowed there people would not be taken advantage of again, and now there living up to that promise. Remember egypt they attacked Israel to try and kick them out of there because they wernt of there religeon they wanted there holy land... However as you all know Israel not onley repelled the invaders but staged a counter attack and forced egypt into a treaty.

Honestly, I know of no other country that wields the power Israel seems to wield. If it is government sponsored and encouraged by Israel (which I tend to believe to a degree) or just people not thinking about just how little America gains from Israel as probably our closest ally. What interests we have in protecting Israel? What our mutual interests are? Fuck if I know. Why we continue to pay a very modern and rich nation that we have a trade defecit to, billions of dollars a year? Fuck if I know. It just all doesnt make sense to me. The Cold War is over, we dont need a counterweight to the Soviets influence in the Middle East, we dont need the heat our alliance with Israel draws. It just really is all a bunch of what the fuck. None of it seems to add up to me.

I have never heard someone tell me how supporting Israel grants America anything or gives us any advantages. It seems our political capitol is on a one way train to Jerusalem, along with our cash and credibility, to some nations, never to return. There is no give and take with this alliance. We are the givers, Israel is the reciever. And I frankly dont think it is worth it.

If someone can prove to me how Israel and Americas interests align, I am all ears. It would go a long way for me to stop caring how my taxes are going on a train to Israel, very much a first world nation.

Israel is blowing up civilian infrastructure for the sake of two soldiers as there first option. Nothing else was tried to secure there release. Several civilians will be killed on both sides, and this is only going to lead to more violence. The soldiers could easily be killed in reprisal. Let's admit this is more about Isreal giving Lebanon a spanking then about getting soldiers back. Considering how many soldiers are going to be killed in the process, its obvious that this is a pretense to justify a strike against Hezbollah.

While Israel is very capable, its not all-powerful. It has intelligence, but obviously doesn’t know where the soldiers are being kept yet. Blowing up bridges and airports reduces the ability of the Hesbollah to take them out of the country.

That at least makes some sense, even though I'm still of the opinion that it is overkill especially considering that this was the first option used. I think there is more going on here than just getting the soldiers back.
