I posted this in general, but it goes here just as well, if not better.
I am proud to announce the release of the new hosting company, CrystalHosting.net. Conceived recently, CrystalHosting is the perfect solution for you small-mid level sites.
We currently offer 3 plans for your hosting needs. The prices range from $2 - $10 monthly, and space and bandwidth vary accordingly. All packages come with: PHP 5, CGI, Perl, Python, WebMail, cPanel, Fantastico!, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. We do provide use of shell access to the servers for an additional cost of $2/month. Also, with your account, you can choose to use an a free subdomain, or you may use an existing domain that you own.
Basic Plan
------------------
$2/month
250 megs space
5 gigs bandwidth
CGI Access
Starter Plan
------------------
$6/month
1000 megs space
8000 megs bandwidth
Frontpage Extensions
CGI Access
Advanced Plan
------------------
$10/month
2500 megs space
15000 megs bandwidth
Frontpage Extensions
CGI Access
If you are interested in any of our plans, email us at sales@crystalhosting.net, or post here and we will contact you (PM, AIM, MSN, Gtalk, Email; which ever you prefer). We do have a site setup, but we will not have a true automated registration system for another 3 months or so. Currently the programmer, myself, is busy with other work and does not have time to progarm a system for the site, so we are relying on a pre-built system, untill I get time to code one myself.

If you compare it with GoDaddy Webhosting - which most people are so happy with - Crystal Hosting gives you more bandwith than GoDaddy does...
So what's the prob, doc?

I think GoDaddy's bandwidth is better...maybe I'm just doing the math wrong.

What???
On their basic plan they're giving 8gb bandwidth. Godaddy's giving 250gb.
Like Jeremy said, 5gb is nothing. I usually go thru that in a day.

I am not sure how our bandwith compares with GoDaddy's in scale, but we are not comparing ourselfs to them. We are not trying to short anybody on bandwidth, we give what we can. If we were to upgrade the bandwidth, all we would be able to give is this, and that does not leave us a buffer zone.

Hmm. Maybe get rid of a little hard drive space? Because I think people would rather have more bandwidth. I mean 5000 mg bandwidth is just not enough.

But still. You can easily go through 5gb of bandwidth in a day. If you want the smallest plan to be semi-practical, give 150mb of space and 50gb of bandwidth.

Dude, what? Hell no. I don't think you understand how expensive webhosting is, to give that away for $2. I am sorry man, but you are one crazy.

I'll just step in for a minute and clear the air. If you expect to get 250gb of bandwidth per month for $3, let alone $10 or even $15, then you deserve to have your site killed.
With that said, companies like Servage and Godaddy make good on their promises every day by offering just that for bargain prices. However, shared hosting is never a substitute for a dedicated server. Why do you think people buy servers if you can get an "unlimited hard drive" or "2 terabytes of bandwidth" for $10 a month? Because you just can't.
To gamescool, I don't think you understand the basic market segment. The average customer will never use more then maybe 15mb of space and a gigabyte of bandwidth for a frequently updated, well designed website. That is obviously not an estimate or a valid average, but from my personal experience in the industry, that is what I've found.
I applaud this fellow for having a go at things and I wish you the best of luck. Don't ever try and compete statistically with a company like Godaddy, just find your niche and be the best at whatever you choose.

You're not being practical. 5gb of bandwidth is not enough. Face it. So now that that's established, think of a way to fix it. You can't give it away for $2. Maybe make the plan $3?
I'm trying to help you. I just don't see who you're going to get to pay for 5gb of bandwidth a month.

The "promotional plan" on adm offers the same provision of bandwidth and has done astonishingly well. We've signed on about 70 websites to the 5GB bandwidth plan and I've yet to see one hit its limit.
You have to take into consideration that the vast majority of customers are not high-intensity users like yourself.

Very interesting. I guess I am bias because I use more. I guess I really don't know how much smaller sites use.
But one thing, you're charging half the price, $1, so that 5gb is coming cheaper. Then again you're giving less space.
I guess if you're not going to use 5gb of bandwidth it's good.

We've been offering much less space, essentially making it unusable for anything past a simple blog or a personal/family webspace. With the space restriction at 100mb, it presents less of an opportunity to drag the bandwidth limit down and often curtails the user into breaking up his or her sites into more manageable chunks.
250 is a little more lenient in that it may offer an oppertunity to upload larger files, but it still seems within reasonable terms.

I have downgraded it to 150 mb. See plans here (still working on coding layout in xhtml, some(most) buttons don't work at the moment.)
So, now that we have worked out that the packages are good, anybody looking for hosting?

Make it 200mb. Now you're mediocre in space and mediocre in bandwidth. At least offer a nice amount of space.

Cool!
I think it really makes the plan better, and look better. 200mb is a lot of space, which should encourage customers.

Yes, hopefully. We are still lacking in the customer area. We have had allot of good comments about the plans, and people saying "I am looking for hosting, I will keep you in mind), but nobody who is actually buying.
