I have lately been scarred by two films and the other I just enjoyed, one of them being Hong Kong horror, and the other two being japanese. The first of the three that I saw was the Hong Kongian one, called "Dumplings". It's about this lady who is being rejected by her husband, so she goes to a cook who makes dumplings that are a sort of fountain of youth. These
so-called "dumplings" replenish her skin... One day she asks whats in them. She gets a lovely reply of... it cuts off there. You see a scene where the dumpling lady goes to a hospital and buys something from a doctor. It cuts to the wife and the Dumpling Lady talking about the crunchiness of the bones in the dumplings, how you can see the tiny cranium. From here on it becomes obvious what she's using for the meat. Seeing a movie about a lady eating aborted faetuses will scar you too. The next two movies weren't disturbing, but they were good and creepy. I saw the original "Ju-on" , not the crap american remake, and a very odd and creepy movie called "Suicide Club", awhich opens up with 54 schoolgirls counting down at a bus stop. "One... and a two... and a three!!!" 54 teenagers jumping in front of a train right before it comes is pretty gory, if you can imagine it. It has a good n' scary scene where a bunch of teenagers are imitating the suicide on the train, then a whole bunch of other kids join in. "A one and a two and a three!!!" Then all but three teenagers jump off. You realize that they thought everyone was joking. Guilt trips overcome them, and one of the three jumps off and forces another kid off. The last girl is so scarred for life, and guilty, she proudly exclaims "Suicide Club" and jumps. If you can, get ahold of 'Suicide Club" or "Ju-on", but I don't reccomend "Dumlings" unless you are hardened, as it is not for the faint of heart.

Shy should I watch 'Suicide Club', you just ruined it for me.

Although I could have inferred something similar from the title.

If you want good horror thats asian, check out "Three" and "Three Extremes" in your local foreign film section. One of them (Three Extremes) has a shortened version of Dumplings, but you can skip it.

Suicide Club is one of my favorite movies of all time (see profile). Its mighty confusing, and you should only watch the unscencored one. I wouldnt call it horror though, its more in the class of Ichi the killer (and more violent in my opinion)

The original Ju-on was horrendously boring with no scares to speak of.

Dumplings was on the "Three extremes" DVD which was a huge dissapointment, I dont see how you could stomach Suicide Club but not Dumplings, SC tops any movie that was on either of the three extremes.

Look, I was shown many films like that at the age of, what, five? Since I can not tell you how much I have been scarred. I was shown Pet Semetary at six years old, and Event Horizon at 12. I was scared shitless.

Pet cemetary is not scary at all..the only midly distrubing part was when zelda (the one wit the back problem) is tied to a bed and is screaming bloody murder. I agree with you on the fact that event horrizon was messed up though. That scarred the shit outa me. Other than that not much scares me...I stomached TCM original at 7 or 8.

I know, but seeing movies like Event Horizon or Pet Semetary at a VERY early age would have scarred you.

It did quite the opposite to me, I grew up with nightmare on elm street, friday the 13, alien, the shining, halloween, and other generic lame brained early 90's gore movies. I saw event horizon at 13 when it came out, and love it. For me, these movies have made me callous to horror and gore, not scared.

You saw them at 13, Nightmare on Elm Street is pathetic and lame, I saw these movies at, what, 6 or 7 at most? I dunno, it kinda hardened me too.

Well, seeing how you couldn't stomach Dumplings, I strongly suggest you don't see any of the following movies:

Salo: 120 days of sodom
Guinea Pig 2: Flowers of Flesh and Blood
Guinea Pig 4: Mermaid in the Manhole
Aftermath
Cannibal Holocaust

My first flash-please leave reviews!

True True, those movies plus about 30 others I can name that are much more disgusting.

And if baby eating is your weakness then definetly stay away from August Undergrounds Mordum

Dumplings was featured in another movie called "Three Extremes" which I saw...along with that one is a movie about a crazy killer movie extra and a girl who killed her twin because the circus man was slepping with her (they were like 8).

Creepiets movie ever.

I recently saw "The Booth" It was creepy, and it's short. I recommed it.

Oh, and about those other horror films, I could stomach Dumplings, it was just a bit difficult to swallow (no pun intended).

I love Suicide Club, its a great movie, although this was the directors first time not directing gay p0rn. (nice piece of triva)

I recommend that you watch battle Royale, I like it more than Ju-on and Suicide Club.

August Undergrounds Mordum, is the single most fucked up piece of film to ever be created. SOme of the scenes have been permanetly burnt into the back of my head.

Suicide Club also goes by the title Suicide Circle by the way. I have it, and it's great!
I like Asian horror but I watch more like gangster/cult films as opposed to just horror like Ringu and Ju-on etc. Shinya Tsukamoto's "Tetsuo: Iron Man" is good. As is his "A Snake of June." There are loads.

I didn't think that battle royale was that good really, the book and mangas impressed me but the movie kinda sucked.
