Is it possible for me to take guitar tabs and translate them into FL Studio, like read the tabs and make them work for me in FL? How do I read tabs? I wanted to put this into a song (I'm not going to sell it or anything so I think its legal) http://www.911tabs.com/link?326345

www.ultimate-guitar.com has a link on how to read tabs. Past that, you'll need some basic knowledge of the guitar and how to translate that into FL. Also, some knowledge of traditional music notation would help, too.

Shit, I don't know anything about guitar. See like I make beats but I always fuck up with the melodies, and I have a friend in a band and he said something like "you need to cover stuff before you make your own music" so I'm gonna take old beats melodies and put them to my music until I get a feel for melodies so I can make my own, you know? So, yeah, thanks for the link but do you know anything thing else that could help?

To give you a quick solution:

First, in the piano roll of the instrument you wish to enter the score into, look right above where the keys end. See the two pics of different sized keys along with the 'abc'? Select the 'abc' to switch over to lettered notes.

Next, bring up the tab you wish to translate. Look at the string, take for example an 'E', then count the semitones to the actual note. A 0, or an open is just the 'E', but a 1 represents one fret above the note, or an 'F', a 2 represends an 'F#' and so on.

To achieve the right tempo, I would suggest placing the origional track's MP3 into FL studio as an 'Audio Clip' and then right clicking the image of the waveform in the Audio Clip plugin screen and selecting 'Detect tempo'

That's my advice.

Yeah, and how would I play that. The zero fret on piano roll is the lowest and it sounds like garbage.

A 0 fret can be any open string on the guitar.

EAGBDE are open strings on a guitar.

If B and D got together and had like, a kid string, it would be an L so that the guitars open strings would be EAGLES...

Yeah, but I'm not playing the guitar. I'm doing this on FL Studio. Does anyone know how to do the timing and does anyone know how to read piano tabs?

isn't the lowest note on guitar E4 or is it E5?

in other words bitchslap, it's not the lowest note on the piano roll. click the E key above C4 and below C5 that's where the low E is on a guitar.

and just a word of advice, unless you actually play guitar, you're never gonna understand how the notes translate fully. go pick up a guitar to get the idea. you'll get it in about a half-hour.

Yeah I think I'm going to have to. Do you know how much a Requiento Guitar would run me for?
