i know HOW to rotoscope but i want to do a edit of of me pretending to shoot my friend in the shoulder but when i try to import the AVI file its says something like a wrong file type but on my friends laptop he has the same version of flash and it works

umm, the only thing I can think of is to totally and utterly completely reinstal your computer. it's a pain I know, but it usually fickses most errors :)

Maybe there was some corruption during transfer or download of the file. You could always download a free avi converter and try turning it into an mpeg or something.

Never done much with video, but I'm guessing it's encoded with a codec that you don't have installed.
