preloader and TEStinG

Hey portal peeplz:

I have one of those "for dummies" books on flash 5, and i have a few questions that it doesnt answer.

1) I created a preloader for my first movie, but when I tested it in swf. format, it just sat there. i know all about the whole "if frame loaded" command stuff. I wanted to know if this had anything to do with me testing it in this format. I also tried exe. and the same dumb shit happened. Any suggestions?

2) The book said its a good idea to test your movie in a web browser to see how it would look to the viewerz. I did this by testing it in HTML format, and it came up as a blank white screen!! Did i do this wrong? I figured it was a problem b'cuz the file size was waaaay lower than the sizes of the .swf and .exe versions. What's going on here?

btw, by "it just sat there" i mean the loading screen came on, but the bar never moved. I had it set to jump every 1/8 th of the movie that was loaded, or basically scene by scene. And YES, the preloader was actually in the movie... i didnt test it alone, for nothing would happen then. Layta!

I'm just answering your first question right now, since it's so late and I just wanna go to sleep. Hmmm... I'd be glad to help you with your preloader, but I'm not sure about your problem just by reading this post. I'd be glad to send you my preloader - it's been tested and it works, so I won't mind if you use it, or you can send your preloader and I'll see (you don't have to send your movie if you don't trust me, but I promise that I won't steal anything. I'm working on a flash movie myself right now...)
