Maybe a lot of you didnt know this, but there were elections three days ago here in Mexico. This was the first time in history that the diference between two candidates was so small and there was dificulty in pointing a winner. Right now an emergency recount of votes is being made by the institution that counts the votes. One candidate is conservative (PAN) while the other one is liberal (PRD). The tension is growing with every passing minute and the diference between the percentage of votes of both candidates is decreasing... Who will be our next president? Im thrillled...

If Mexico can elect a president that truly cares about improving education, regulating some industries, and alleviating poverty than I can see Mexico becoming similiar to Canada in 50 years.

You know, I would have never thought to compare the two, but I can agree with that idea. However, the massive problem with drug-running and police corruption might be the most difficult to overcome.

Also, I hear the senate up here in the USA just wants to let all the mexicans in, so I don't know if they'll be anyone down there in 50 years.

also, i know a few of my friends have done the same thing with "street" drugs too, except they go in cars.

I just read this. Now the National Action Party closely won, but they didn't get a majority of the votes. The PDI and PDR are both members of the Socialist International and although they don't seem to like each other that much, can't they put aside their differences and form and leftist coalition? Or must the winning party form a cabinet, even if it's a minority cabinet? I'm not really familiar with Mexican politics so if someone could explain, please do.

Lol, they do the same thing here in Georgia, except they go to Alabama to get them. The tax is like, 2% less, but when you have like, 30 prescriptions, that could save you hundreds of dollars per year.

also, i know a few of my friends have done the same thing with "street" drugs too, except they go in cars.

Well, going INTO Mexico isn't that hard, coming back is like playing solitaire with a deck of 51.
Of course, the illegal drug running is the problem. A lot of times, these people get caught, and they bribe the police with American luxuries. Am I suggesting that a massive amount of the Mexican Police Force on the border is corrupt? Slightly, but I mean it not in a desrespectful way, especially seeing as how I've only been to Mexico once, and heard tales from my friends, as well.

If they invest in the technology sector, it's possible they could turn out like India (which isn't the best turnout, but it's a start).

Don't be silly there's no government in Mexico. Just an army of borderpatrol officers and some guys in Mexico city. If they had an orginized gov't people wouldn't try to jump the border. Mabye the elections will change things.

Man, Fli is always talking about pedophiles in mexico. Let me tell you a little story. I know two girls who lived in a trailer park and were raped on seperate occasions by illegal mexican immigrants. They were 12 and 16. So it goes both ways.

Now, unlike our own government, as a sign of reconciliation after an especially contentious election, the conservative victor of the election has offered a spot in his cabinet to the vanquished liberal candidate. Huzzah for those uncivilized Mexicans, what with their working together.

Dude...
Mexican Conservatism is seriously not something to brag about... Especially when you can see the result of 80 years in the making.
