Im not saying i know how your parents fell but im pretty sure their worried about how far down the track you will be smoking pot for. One of my uncles started smoking pot when he was around 19. Hes is now 40 and his life is completly fucked due to him still being hooked on it, he can bearly keep a job as a janitor and has shit all money to pay the bills with. All of his cash goes into buying pot to fill his addiction. So what i think your parents are most worried about is you getting hooked on the stuff and ending up in a shit hole of a life.

Is it so hard to do what your mother tells you to do? Just her telling you to stop because she wants you to stop is a good enough reason alone, she shouldn't even have to tell you why pot is bad.

My mum eventually realised she couldn't stop my brother from smoking pot. Then on she only let him smoke it if it was done in our garage with his mates, so she knew where he was.

Marijuana does have long-term negative effects on your nutrition and can cause lasting damage to your brain. Your immune system and breathing can also be effected. You'd seriously do best avoiding it. Whatever high you get isn't worth all the problems it can lead to. It's also definately not worth falling out with your mother over.
