Hey. I am always listenning to music and for a few months i have been really getting into Metal/death metal music. I listen to slipknot, Lamb of God, disturbed, Korn and bands like that but most of those are Nu-Metal. I have really been getting into bands like In Flames (Pinball Map, Leeches), Arch Enemy, 26 Crazy Fists, Opeth, and a ton more. Anybody have any good bands that i should check out that sound like the ones i just posted or really good songs that i should check out from those artists? i have listenned to some of those bands songs but not all of them. Can you give me some good reccomendations?

please don't post stupid shit like "rock sux0rs LOL". If you don't like htis genre just leave please. thx in advance

I see you're a fan of Opeth.

I'm just throwing this out here, but if you like Opeth, and you want to listen to a softer kind of that genre music, you should listen to Dream Theater.

Hell, you might just fall in love with them. Why not give them a shot.

Check out Battlemaster, they aren't well known but they are great. Especially their song Intelligencer, it's a must listen.

-Ayreon (The album: The Human Equation is a fucking metal opera! It's awesome!)
-Apocalyptia (do it. Now. Violins. Cellos. Electric guitars)
-Katatonia (Kinda metal...kinda rock, but mostly metal)
-OPETHOPETHOPETH (obvoiusly)
And, finally
-Turmion Kätilöt (finnish)

I've been neglecting the BBS I've come to realize.

MegaDeth
Black Sabbath
Judas Preist
Rammstien
Deep Purple
Anthrax

Also, stay away from Death Metal. All it is it speed up metal, where the lead singers scream like bitches.

Also, since you are a nu-metal fan you might wanna listen to Alice in Chains. Technally they're grunge, but they influenced alot of nu-metal bands. Such as the ones you listed

I didn't forget, I just decided not to put them in, along with others like Led Zeppelin because I don't think they make the style of music he was looking for. I added Billy Joel in as a joke.

Power metal is great.
You should give that a try, like Sonata Arctica, BlindGuardian, Savage Circus, Helloween, and shit.
Some other goodness is Iced Earth, Annihilator, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Candlemass, Gamma Ray, Stratovarius, and Soilwork.

Haha Kamelot. When I first started listening to a lot of music, I was really into Power Metal. I had all the shit like Falconer, Helloween, Rhapsody, Hammerfall, Gamma Ray, Sonata Artctica, Blind Guardian....
Ah good times. But then you realise that its really bland music overall and while songs are better than average songs overall, truly memorable songs that you want to listen to again and again are pretty rare.

Anyways, go read this site: http://www.metalcrypt.com/genresframe.php

You can find out whatever bands you like and then link them to other bands.

Or, even better: www.pandora.com.
Enter any band, or even any song, and it will start shitting out tons of songs of that same genre. Really awesome.

I have hundres of those songs.
I'll never turn to the dark side of music either.

You can keep all your rap and your death metal. Every time its the same thing. "The melodies are great its so awe -what? Yeah I used to love Korn! - anyways the singer is so good because..."

check out Slayer and Iron Maiden

Slayer is old school 80s metal that is heavier than anything today and Iron Maiden is kind of a light 80s heavy metal, even though I consider them heavy, but they still rock.

I also forgot, Metallica is the definition of heavy metal, just don't get anything from the black album beyond, get stuff from the ...and justice for all and past records. Metallicas only great cds are kill 'em all, master of puppets, and ride the lightning. Black Sabbath is also a great heavy metal band.

Pantera are an obvious choice. Most people who like any spectrum of metal usually like Pantera. Cowboys from Hell is their big song.

Sepultura are quite good but its a bit of an aquired taste. Ratamahatta, see if you like it.

Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden

Yes, also, Velvet Revolver aren' t really metal but Slash, Duff, and Matt still play in the band with an exception of Scott from Stone Temple Pilots more modern rock but still worth getting. Iif you are brave enough Skid Row, Motley Crue, Def Leppard.
