True, but you did highlight an issue with the thread.

The Mars Volta
... Maybe Red Hot Chili Peppers
I mean, although most legendary bands come from England, America still has a lot of great music.

ZAALLAN WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM!!!
How fucking dare you, you filthy Bastard! When I come back to Glasgow I might just kill you for that one and dont be forgetting that I know where you live and work!
How the fuck could you have the nerve to make a thread about favourite bands from your country and completely fail in your decision. The Associates are not your favourite fucking band, ok? the fucking Proclaimers are your fucking favourite fucking band. I dont give a fuck if you dont like the Proclaimers, they are still your favourite fucking band like it or not!
I am going to give you aids when I get home!

(words to the effect of) although a lot of good music comes from America
I must agree, 70% of the bands I listen to are from America. Roughly 10% from Britain (yep I said it again) and 20% from the rest of the world, mainly scandinavian countries.
My top 10 most listened bands on last.fm show this:
1. Faith No More (USA)
2. A Perfect Circle (USA)
3. Nine Inch Nails (USA)
4. In Flames (SWE)
5. Tool (USA)
6. Coheed & Cambria (USA)
7. Iced Earth (USA)
8. Massive Attack (UK)
9. The Mars Volta (USA)
10. Children of Bodom (FIN)
If I was American I wouldn't be able to pick a favourite band from my country, it'd simply be too hard. But i've noticed most the different types of rock I listen to barring Indie are all from bands from the USA. Most of the metal I listen to is from countries like Norway, Sweden or Finland (<3 power metal) and then Britain has the widest range. This ranges from Trip Hop, to Indie to the odd bit of metal.
This shows clearly that USA are outstanding at almsost anything rock.
Northern European countries are pioneers of anything metal.
Also Britain dabble in everything and anything music :)

The Undertones made some great tracks...
As for England, it's too hard, some of the greatest and most important musicians ever were English, but If I had to narrow it down to one I would probably settle for.......nah, can't do it, really is too hard.

Could this possibly be any harder? England's produced so many great bands over the years.
I'm going to narrow it down to Demented Are Go, Zombina & the Skeletones, The Damned, The Prodigy and Goldfrapp.

Yup is was MENTAL.It was like a massive rave.It was deadly because the venue they were playing in Dublin in indoors and upstairs in this venue are about 10 bars serving lovely cold, non watered down pints.Unlike most concert bars which give you warm piss in a plastic container.
