Why Can You Only Upload Mp3 Songs?

Today I tried uploading a song and I have dialup an after 23minits it told me to format it to a mp3 I cant, I do not have the software I think they shod let us upload any format.

At my site there is free family guy and Simpsons clips, takes 50 seconds to load a movie with dialup.GO TO SITE!

MP3 files are supported by flash. .WAV files have shit quality in flash, so they just kinda... don't allow you to submit those to newgrounds.

PS: wav isn't used in here cause the file sizes are much larger than mp3

.wav files are far higher quality than .mp3 files... but also 10 times the file size. That's the reason NG no longer accepts them.

Well... that's not it at all really - it has nothing to do with Flash compatability (which .wav's are anyway) nor does it have anything to do with sound quality either

it's just a matter of bandwidth that's all...

I'm always amused by people who insist that a .wav is a lower quality file than an .mp3

No codec will increase the quality of a soundfile - you simply cannot create additional detail that is not present in the original file - and consider that most .mp3's are created from other formats to begin with... mostly wav's... you get the idea

it's because .wav's a fuckin' huge and .wma's just fuckin' suck.

in the future all cd players will play mp3 discs and all records will be comprised of mp3 files making a band's full album last about 2 weeks instead of 1 hour.

in the old days you COULD submit wav files to newgrounds.. and wav files that were submitted then are still in people's lists as just that.. wav files.. but you cant anymore. Liljim prolly axed the code for that. wav files didn seem to stream neways - they always opened a new page which was fucknig annoying.. or you had to d/l them before you could listen to them.

All in all.. wavs are annoying and are only good if your song is like.. 10 seconds long.. however wav files dont have padding.. but.. you can eliminate padding on mp3s as well.. but most ppl dont.. I think the songs on the audio front page are wav files actually..

neways mp3s. Not wavs. no visible difference in quality.. if you do it right..
