It resets to exactly the same countdown point before you changed your clock. As far as I know, there's no way to change the timer.
Here's my conclusion ( based off of other forum topics):
There are many companies with the title Eon (I.E a credit card company in the Philippines, producers of the new Bond movie) and this is a countdown to a release of their new product. There is also an Eon games.
The countdown is simply a timer until the unveiling of the "real" site, and this project was meant to have no leaks.
The creator of this just wanted to experiment with people, see if they could spark interest in people out of basically nothing. Judging by the IP list on the site, they managed that with flying colors.
Maybe this site is acessible only to members of a private group, and the timer marks an event for them, be it religous or otherwise.
Do any of you realise that this site is not being advertised by anybody but curious visitors? Chances are the creator doesn't have the public in mind, because the creator is not advertising the site, unless you count posts in forum threads about the site itself.

No, morons, it has nothing to do with Scientology. Theta is used for code-names in organizations, like military. Theta maneuvers, and shit like that. I've read about. Trust me, it has nothing to do with Scientology. Seriously, this stuff is intriuging, but you guys are going crazy over it and jumping to stupid conclusions. Chillax.

maybe there is nothing to be advertised. or its just another type of advertising (which works) but it has a deployment section of the site which is a map. so it means that a particularevent or soemthing is happening at those places.
Noun 1. eon - the longest division of geological time
aeon
geologic time, geological time - the time of the physical formation and development of the earth (especially prior to human history)
geological era, era - a major division of geological time; an era is usually divided into two or more periods.
trippy. but then what does 8 haev to do with it? maybe its just a catchy phrase (e and 8 rolls of the tongue)

its originally a greek letter, the eighth one strangely enough. the code-names all come from that and iI presume the scientology one does as well.

Also,on July 1st Charles Darwin theory of Natural Selection was introduced.
This theory is basically 'Survival of the Fittest'.
So it might be that humans are not "fit" anymore. =/

Somone please do me a favor. Go to the site and click "Log in". Enter a false login name and password, it should say "Acess denied: Your action has been observed." If so, come back here and tell us. I think it may warrant a post on the part of the OP, seeing as the past few times I have seen somone on a forum report doing this, a post from them has appeared. At the very least we will get somone impersonating them.

I'm pretty sure this isn't relevant or anything, but the purpose pf the map is bugging me. I decided to join the dots in order of when they appear. I don't suppose this squiggle means anything to anyone?

Thanks for taking the time to post in this thread, it makes things a little more interesting. Obviously you (less you be a bot) or many others alongside you are monitoring sites, whether they be large or small, seeking threads that discuss the website "eon8". May I ask why P2TFWFNG will not be available for access? On This forum page it was stated that "9PU10SGEY" would be available for access, so what's different about this page? Answers to these questions (though I'm doubtful I'll recieve any) would be appreciated. One more thing to note: when behind the ZoneAlarm firewall, all values on the page are set to zero. Not the timer, but the figures next to the browser.

It was a fake. It didn't link anywhere, and barely got the correct format of what you seen on other forums.

The other posts didn't link anywhere either. And the format matches exactly, minus the break and no picture. But, just because somone's going around posting the site doesn't mean they're affiliated with it. ALL of the posts could be fake for that matter.

Well, the government found them, but didn't really do anything. It may be safe. But, then again, it's the government.

From the looks of it, it is just a site that tracks whoever visited it and has the count down to draw people in who have no idea whats going on. At the very most its an experiment by a curious person to see if they could spread a site by word of mouth alone.
As for these eon8 bots, they are probably individual users on each forum who are fucking around on alts for attention.
Now does this topic really need 70 more pages?

No, but it certainly is fun to see if we can sort this out before that timer expires. Does it really bother you if the topic keeps going? Just don't look at it........... And there's NO WAY it's just people on NG or other sites mimmicking the Administrator, because even small myspace forums and other places have either a post by the same name, or suspicious guest accounts with odd posts. Literally every forum that has a thread about eon8 has some kind of input from what seems to be an affiliate of the site.

Amen. I think gumonshoe is right. I think this will be a major disappointment for everyone. I bet you the topic starter is in on this too. lol. I think its just some bored coders who have started their summer holidays and have nothing better to do. You guys need to chill. Whats the worse that can happen? Really, think about it.
Or maybe its just an opening to someones website, or a new product coming out. Companies do this all the time. Microsoft did it for teh opening of the Oragami. A really weird spooky video led up to an electronic product. This could be the same. Hell, i could be wrong but im thinking that you guys are taking this way to seriously. If i am wrong, bye bye internet lol.

It is nothing special. And someone already figured out that the timer resets to your own computer time. If the timer is based on the user's clock then it is an imperfect timer and can't actually be trusted to do anything if it is supposed to be used by some "super secret millitary operation" or "extraterestrials"
As for posts on forums, they probably dropped a tracking cookie or something similar to inform them of where the most hits are coming from. Then they could easily send out a bot, similar to smarter child, to make some sort of post.
Continue if you like, but this is more idiotic than the people who think 9/11 was a government hoax.
