You're wanting this to come too easily. Making a game takes alot of work.

The best programme that i would recomend is 3D Studio Max. I got it free so obviously it's not impossible you can't get it free. But there's one question you got to ask yourself, have you got the patience?.

This isn't going to be as simple as "click character" "suddenly mold it" and "put in game and he can magically move". I've had 3DS for a while, and it is quite hard. Things like Poser are supposed to be good - however i have never used it!.

I think you should take another look at your situation, mate. Programming a game and creating one isn't going to be easy asp ie. Like all things, you must put in effort.

I completely agreee with that. Flash is about the only platform where u can make a game and simingly not put much effort into it., but for a good game, you'll hav to spend time on it. I just completed a simple tic tac toe game using java on jcreator, that interface took while. Even gamemaker isn't just going to do it all for ya.

Java is nice for fledgling gamemakers though, because you don't have to worry about memory management with smaller projects, and there is a HUGE library of useful classes, including tons of GUI stuff.

flash is good for web games but crumbles next to most other languages/programs in terms of speed. AS3 might change that though..

And saving settings is easy, just use SharedObjects

Ah sadly i have next to no knowledge in Java. I know some HTML. The basic's really of image mapping, text colours, backgrounds and so forth, but no Jave(save for the occaisional 'pop up clock') so i'll have to take your guy's word on it. However, i do believe Flash is an excellent way of making games.

Again, i haven't really used flash much, i've dabbled here and there. But fro what i gather it is pretty good. It has simple ways - if not as simple as the person who started this post wanted it to be - of creating and developing good games and good movies. Although, i see some people's point where Flash can only go so far.

I'm not so much in the game making buisness, more over into the Web Designing side of things. Sure, i've made a cartoon or too(although i used Movie Maker MX) but i haven't fully grasped the potentional of game creating programmes. But i know of designing; and 3D modeling a bit.

So in my small word's of wisdom; _Chase_ attempt a lesser form of game, maybe a Flash point and click one. Then tackle the 3D modeling with 50billion frames.
