The Specialists

[Magic-Waffle]

The Specialist is a mod of the original Half-Life. It's an online first-person/thrid-person shooter game combining Matrix-like moves and CS weapon tactics. I've wanted this game for awhile, and once I get my computer soon, I will, but I'm not xactly sue of how to do this. I know I must buy the original Half-Life first, but then what? Do I download it off the internet? And does Steam come with it? How do I get Steam anyway? Please respond!

PS Feel free to blab about The Specialists if you want. I want to know as much as I can about Role Playing on that game, like commands (such as arresting), jobs, stuff like that. ^_^

Well friend..you have come to right the right forum...user..guy anyway. Here are your steps.
1. Buy Half life (this can be accomplished by either buying a physical copy or purchasing it off steam...your going to need the Code on the CD case from Half Life to get it on steam.
2. GET STEAM www.steampowered.com is this site where you can download steam and use it to play Half-life and basically every other Valve product.
3.Install Half life from Steam..this is pretty self explanatory, your going to need to find HALF LIFE in the game list on the main buying screen in STEAM.
4. Download the Specialists http://www.specialistsmod.net/
5 Install the specialists...the installer should install directly into the Half Life Directory
6.ENJOY (or ask yourself wtf am i supposed to do again?)
PS. Your going to need to register a steam account WHICH IS FREE.

Yeah you get a steam account, put ur HL serial code in and downnload the mod, then install it. It then appears in ur game list.

Yes, I've been there before. Only when I looked in the manual for commands while Role Playing, the manual was empty! Bogus... I still need how to know how to do stuff Role Playing (I'm a noob). I hope this topic gets big. ^_^

Indeed my good friend! all you have to do is pay for Half life and you get acess to the entire Valve back catalogue. which contains: CS (the orginal HL version of course), Opposing force,Blue Shift,Riochet,Team Fortress Classic,Half life:Deathmatch and lastly Day of Defeat. ^__^ happy half lifeing.

Seems liek a freakishly awesome deal! My friend who has HL, TS, CS, ans Steam said you must get TS and CS seperatly though. But, he got them together when he got the original HL. So that's why I came here, because I thought he was false. Obviously he is. Anyway, once I get my computer (hopefully very soon cause I'm peeing my pants wait) I'm getting it right away. So, does ayone Role Play on that game? I like being a cop. ^_^

Arr, (almost?) any mod for HL is free once you have HL. It really is a freakishly awesome deal.

I play TS, but I don't play roleplay on it. The manual would be empty becuase teh roleplay servers are things that people have created themselves- mods of teh mod. They aren't indorsed by the TS Team.

I could never get the hang of Team Fortress... It all seemed kinda overcomplicated...

You get CS with the package when you buy HL and dude...The Specialists is a free mod..you just download it. Lastly...roleplaying in a game like TS is really dumb i mean its a action game with guns and shooting and extreme violence..slo mo and kung fu..tell your friend to get off those little roleplaying servers and play in a real mans lobby server.

Also, I'd like to talk about custom skins. My friend has tons form RPing and from online. Any links or easy ways to get good ones? I'd like all the cop models and the 7/11 guy cause he looks like a gangsta. =) I'd also like any funny ones, like cars or Mario characters. Please respond.

Have you ever Role Played? Try it...You can be a cop and arrest or taz people, be a gangsta and steal and destroy, be a hitman and kill, anything you like. It's very addicting and fun. Just give it a chance before you diss it.

Yes ive been there and ive done the RPing but...man..its a action game..there's supposed to be alot more shooting than the happy little gunfights in the RP servers i mean your life is completly expendable and there's WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY<---continues for many more minutes, more action i mean seriously..the game was intended to be played like a action movie not "I will buy food at 7/11 and then go shoot a few people and get arrested for it. I'm really sorry..i love HL and TS but those RP servers just butcher the meaning of TS. BTW the only reason your friend has you taze people and stuff is because he has a admin account..

Ok, I agree TS is an action game with mind blowin moves and violence, I just use RPing as a diversion. It's fun to take a break from the killin and just enforce the law or go around stealin stuff. *shrugs* I just like it. Another thing is my friend isn't an admin, nor was I when I played the game. He just recieved it from a nice admin =) BTW, what exactly is an admin? A server of RP games? Anyway, I do like DMing, but I love RPing too. ^_^ You had some nice points though.

Oh i see..sorry..and a Admin is a person who administrates the server (puts down laws,Kicks hackers,installs mods of mods all that jazz.

Do you know how to become an Admin? And if you are one (because I think I acceidently became once because someone allowed me to give out jobs to newcomers) how do you give out jobs? Does that make you an Admin? Also, do you have any custom skins? I want to get a Jack Bauer one, if there i sone. = ) Respond please.

i play in the si3n4 server i am chief but the server reset so everyone now is likea immagrant and stuff but yey the rp s very addicting i love tazering abuseive people then i ask for there licence and i fine them and get to stela there money mwuhahahahahahahaha!

no see the admins give like job admin to good rpers so they can help new comers and give them a job and stuff there baicly testing them to see if there good enough for full admin or spawn admin ^^ i was spawn admin once then i got it remove because i spawned me 58690457604576540670549865094 dollars and black market items

I cuff someone, then take their "legal" guns, and hold them up. If they gimme crap, it's off to the gas chamber for them! Iwas cheif once, but the next day, I couldn't find the server that was on before. =(

Very nice. Do you have any idea how to give jobs? to cuff someone you say "/cuff" or bind a key to it. So how do you give a job? "Give job 4 to <Blah>"? I'm confused on that. I don't wanna be a TS noob forever!!

Please try it! It's the best game ever! Play against bots (type addcustombot "Bob" in the counsle when playing on your own server) and just try out moves and stuff. It's really fun to do flips and crap.

Well I'm admin on a TSRP server

the command for giving jobs is amx_employ (if he's not sure) or amx_setjob <name>
<JobID> the Job ID is found in amx_joblist

You become admin when you make a server, or are employed by someone who owns a server.

Also, that amx stuff is only with the AMX mod installed.

Don't forget there are other mods such as: Brainbread and The Battle Grounds using Half Life. But for the most fun, grab Half Life 2 and Half Like Generation. Six games in 2 buys.
