Hey, who went to the Feb. 15 United for Peace and Justice rallies? I was at the one in NYC, but there were ones in major cities all over the world. Anyone here go too? What did you think of it?

I was at the philadelphia rally. It was really great, I heard about the NYC one...way to go 500,000 people, philly only had about 10,000 people but still, it was nonviolent, supportive, loud, and HUGE. DROP BUSH, NOT BOMBS!!!

Up here in Canada I dont think there where many (Or any for that matter) But if there had been I'd of been there in a heart beat. This war is wrong on so many levels. I was sickned when this whole Iraq thing started. Mostly at how no-one was saying it was wrong. I'm glad so many people think that it shouldn't happen

I was at a small one in a place called "London" with about 2 million other people...quiet little affair, not much media coverage..or police...or total shutting down of the transport system.

I went to one in my rural town in Australia called Armidale.
We had about 2,000+ people which doesn't sound like much, but that is a fair proprtion of our population and it was done before most of my fellow university students were back in town, so it was good to see that so many people had the brains to do the right thing, even in the midst of redneck heaven.

Yes, I'm sure that PEACEFUL protests in which everyone against the war in the region is centralized into one spot is going to cause Bush a LOAD of trouble. Fuck MLK and Ghandi, you know why the Vietnam protests worked? Same way that O.J. got free. People were afraid that there would be riots. Let's give off the same atmosphere; let's give the impression that if there's military action in Iraq, there's gonna be a shitload of military action here, too. Stop being so idealistic and get some rocks to throw and prepare window-smashing clubs.

But that would just turn all of us into hypocrites. If we want peace, then we shouldn't try to get it with war. Turning to violence would just give the anti-war movement a bad name.

Here in Australia, police estimates of crowd size were woefully (and probably deliberately) under actual figures. Did that happen to anyone else around the world as well?

I was at the London one and the police and media originally reported around 700,000, but then the organisers claimed around 2 million. The acutal number was around 1.5 million.
