Bitrates lower than 96 are just AWFUL, 128 is the very least you should have it! I almost always record at 128-192. You should let the flash artists lower it, for their sake. Dont crap up the audio portal with anything lower than 128 bitrate, unless your song is over 4 minutes or something.
On the other hand, yes, 4 MB is certainly enough for a 3:30-4:15 song at 128. In fact, Apple determines the relative songs that the iPod can hold by each song being exactly 4 MB. Almost every generic album cover song is about 4 minutes long at 128 bitrate. Unless you're listening to Dream Theater. Hardcore music that goes over 6 minutes is just gay--no one wants to hear that shit for more than 3. Most of the time. Unless it's someone as good as Fall of Troy >:)
