ok so i know ngs audio is ment for loops and stuff to be put behind flashes, but all my songs that arent like cute little jokey things take more then the 4. whatever it is. itd be awsome if ng gave more room to music. like an ng purevolume kinda thing could rule.

Bitrates lower than 96 are just AWFUL, 128 is the very least you should have it! I almost always record at 128-192. You should let the flash artists lower it, for their sake. Dont crap up the audio portal with anything lower than 128 bitrate, unless your song is over 4 minutes or something.

On the other hand, yes, 4 MB is certainly enough for a 3:30-4:15 song at 128. In fact, Apple determines the relative songs that the iPod can hold by each song being exactly 4 MB. Almost every generic album cover song is about 4 minutes long at 128 bitrate. Unless you're listening to Dream Theater. Hardcore music that goes over 6 minutes is just gay--no one wants to hear that shit for more than 3. Most of the time. Unless it's someone as good as Fall of Troy >:)

Variable Bitrate is a way of encoding mp3's where the bitrate of the song varies depending on the volume of the song itself, it can go lower to a certain point for quiet parts and higher to a certain point for louder parts. A guy used to send me his stuff a while back in vb, and a 4 minute song would be less than a megabyte, meg point 5 at the most.

Switch from NCH Swift Sound is a pretty good audio conversion utility, and it has vb capabilities. It's free by the way, so abandon your plans of knocking over the local liquor store in order to pay for it.

yeah most of my better compositions are longer than 4 minutes, but yeah i dont record digitally on the computer i record on a four track and bounce tracks like crazy. i cant really just raise and lower mybit rate and stuff just because the equipment i have isnt capable of doing it. im but a starving artist.

I agree it hurts to see such wonderful music placed in such lame flash productions. However, as a newbie I can see this place is mainly for the FLASH animators, not the audio types. I'm happy to cut down some of my songs to fit, but it certainly is not my natural inclination.
