If you are allowed to server your country at the age of 18 why can't you drink in that country.

I hate that argument. not saying that it yours. but i think it's more logical to take this one step at a time. Just check out these well researched scenarios

Scenario: Serving Your country and you die in battle at AGE 18
Enemy deaths: 5 Allies: 1

Scenario: Death Penalty at AGE 18 for murder (note: you were not falsely accused)
Enemy deaths: .5 (you were kind of the enemy) Allies: 1.5 (1 for the guy you killed)

Scenario: DUI conviction after crashing head on with another vehicle with a tailgater
Enemy deaths: 0 Allies: 3-9 (You plus the two other drivers and the passengers they had inside them.

note: nevermind abou the DUI conviction. They can't convict a dead man. forgot.
Anyway yeah. I think it should stay at 21. You have to get to a certain age before you get to end your life and the lives of those around you.

Seriously drinking laws are placed so people are more likely to avoid the last scenario. I do believe that you should have responsibility over your own decisions at age 18 and suffer the consequences. However, you should not be allowed to make the decision for yourself and the people's lives' that will be affected by your decision until your old enough to make sure it's the right decision.

I don't think that driving ages make that much different, truth is, in england anyway, most people under 20 don't drive even if they legally can because they can't afford it, most in this age gap only have a part time job because of college or lack of work experience averaging $3000 a year for part timers or $5000 a year for full timers. The cost of car insurance road tax and petrol is monsterous here, not to mention driving lesson fees on top of that , everything in england is so darn expensive, and remember america is a big country so cars are needed more.

and for drinking i don't give a shit, it's down to personal responsibility. As you lot said if you're not old enough to purchase it find, someone who is, besides people who look 18 are in fact under 18.

Drink driving is not my problem, i don't get emotionally scarred for deaths of close ones, people in liverpool have the sense to take a cab or get a nightbus, and if death doesn't stop them from drink driving, the thought of crashing their £10,000 car or £20 fee to park your car for 7 hours does. Everyone knows the consequence of drink driving whether it's legal or not, it's once again down to common sense.
