True, I'm by no means an expert in the law, but from what little I understand, contracting with a minor allows them special compensations. I think it goes that if the item contracted for is a necessary relevant to the minor's status in society, then it's recoverable, but if not, then the minor is possibly able to avoid payment.

I'm not sure how it applies in this situation, but it's more than likely that he's still screwed regardless. And I agree with most of you, selling out was a pretty foolish thin to do.
