Since the begining of human society, we've had to co-operate with each other to stay alive. We are obviously of suppirior intelligent. Allowing us to get the upper hand on this planet. After population explosions, technological leaps and bounds, medical breakthroughs, and little under standing of human emotion. We have started to turn on each other. Why you ask? A peculular thing called RELIGION. You want to know how human conflict started? "My god is better than your god." What is religion anyway? It's the part of our lives that gives us false answers to the unknown parts of life. Right vs. Wrong. Life after death. Love. Hate. Sin. Besides my own opinion of aetheism. What has religion become. Teaching hatred of those no different from us.
Now in todays hectic world, terror rains supreme as the hypnotic waves of the television tell me to stock pile goods and to not trust anyone. Governments have become a hollow shell of what there orignal purpose was, to provide for the people. Even now, anarchy seems like a pleasent alternative. I'm not talking about Nileism were it is total chaos, but self governing people.
Humans know the difference between right and wrong. It is up to the individual to think before they act.
Look around, countries are dispanding, famine threatens, unemployment plauges, Medi-Care is robbery, Pollution rapes the lands, Over population creates unsanitation, and it's leaving brother to kill brother.
But what is the super power of the Earth, the U.S.A. doing about it? Declaring war as it see's fit. It'll gladly send our men out to die to uphold the oil-crazed ideas of the Bush administration.
It's your life, it's your world, your life is passing by second by second....It's your move...

Very good Murph_Dogg. You are earning you place as #2 of the “LOTMG”. And I fully agree that organized religion has soured long ago and now functions more as a tool to suppress the masses while turning them against each other. Historically, religion has had more to do with war, slavery (romans / Catholics), and all around oppression then any other of mans inventions.

Humanity has always been violent, even before there was religion we were violent. Religion was/is just another avenue for said violence.
Religion has been used to start conflicts, but even as religion falls other controling factors emerge. Religion is/was just a tool for the same evil, that evil being greed and control.
I'm not saying organized religion is right, it certainly is wrong, but it's just a tool for humanity's "bigger" problem. Not the root cause itself.
At any rate, as religion falters, greed will either win out and proliferate through terror(Fascism) or a new brotherhood of man will emerge(Communism, and no the Soviet model was not true marxism).

You are correct that man has always fought his fellow man because it is within our nature. Likewise greed is part of human nature. It is all an extension of the basic "survival of the fittest" instinct inherent in all living creatures. We stockpile wealth and power because it is in our nature to survive. Communism can never work because it runs in conflict with basic human instinct.

Religion is not the cause of all evil and violence. It's just a tool that people use to pick fights with one another. Even if there were no organized religions, there would still be the same stuff on TV as there is now. Religion can have a lot of negative effects on a society, but for the most part a constructive (i.e. not violent and hateful) religion is good for the development of a civilization.

Religion in general is about crowd control. Keeping people in order by installing fears of going to a very hot, torturous place for all eternity if they fail to miss an office hour. Of course that was back in the day. Religion is now just a big moneymaking scam that we need to get rid of in a great renaissance of free thought and understanding that we can get along without all of it. The Bible, as I say, is just a myth. It's a book of stories to explain how human beings came to be before we knew about advanced sciences and physics. Now we have no need for the bible anymore, and need to dump it out the window to further our civilization.
It's still fine to molest children as long as you're a Catholic priest, though. Don't worry, they'll just transfer you to another church. Catholicism will be the first to fall.
