I only have my music recorded on a cassette tape, ( i know, way to join the 90s, PoetDiva) does anyone know of an easy way to record music onto a cd. oh wait! this computer doesn't have a microphone! darnit! well, if any of you come to one of my shows, make a recording. That'd be great. I'm screwed. :(

I think the files should be pre-playable so that you dont download a file that doesnt suit your needs
so just so you can preview the music b4 u play (like on flashkit)

Here's my tip.
Get a tape deck. Put the tape of your music in the tape player. Get a standard guitar cable from any music store (this is a stereo jack to stereo jack cord, but if you can find a headphone to headphone cord, all the more power to you) - then get two stereo to headphone converters. Stick one end into the headphone jack, and another into the 'microphone' port in the back of your computer... (most 'line in' part of the computers only allow mono audio, while the microphone port allows stereo) - I'm assuming you have an audio program that will allow you to record sound coming in from the microphone input. If not, I can recommend some or give you one. The next part is easy: press play on the stereo and record on the computer.
There you go. tape to computer. hell, burn the stuff onto a cd. :)

Thanks for the extensive report. Please do NOT attempt to upload the file(s) again - chances are there was some sort of corruption with one of the database tables at the time of upload and I'll be able to fix the entries that were throwing the errors tomorrow morning.
I guess the question is "which tomorrow morning?" ;)

In all honesty, I'd forgotten about this. I've fixed the tables and your track is now available here.
Thanks for being so patient! :)

I figured as such. You've been pretty quick to answer all the questions I've posed, so you're cool in my book. :) If you ever need some music, don't even hesitate to ask. I'm Remisser on AIM. :)

Is this repository for audio loops or can it be full-length audio tracks?

good idea - i think it would be cool to be able to search for movies by what artist did the music, in case people who submit music would like to see their loops in someone's movie :)

Can we put stuff that is not music on it? Like voice overs that can be used by someone else. I love newgrounds but I don't have the time to learn flah but still want to contribute and if this is not the intended use of thsi service is there another way I can do this.

Oye!
We definitely need a way to blam garbage and a top 50 list for the solid music production.
Fellow musicians please don't just throw any old keyboard/guitar/sax ect. riff up there no matter how good your 20 second solo is, no one can use that stuff!!! People need full scale sound track loops for there animation.

Its a great idea but i hate downloading the songs you should have them streamed instead of having to dl them and give a link to dl them if you like the song. But thats just my 2 cents

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/view.php?id=365317&sub=659

As some people have said before, i agree that there should be a way to preview the audio before downloading it. You could download heaps of tracks before finding the right one like that where as if you just preview you can pick which to download. I dunno but it seems stupid not to have this feature

Yes, everyone agrees you should be able to preview the songs. WE GET IT! Tom needs to make an official Audio player, that comes up for every Audio Submission.

Why can you only submit your own work?
if you are looking for one particular track, you can't find it there, because it must be of your own if you submit something.
Maybe it can be fixed in such a way that you also can upload things that aren't made by you.
I know you CAN, but the rules say you can't.
(I've said this before, but I guess no one's read it, and I would really like to know why.)

If you are meaning that you want to upload a track from a commercial band, you can't submit it because it will be subject to copyright laws, whereas if you mean something that a band you know has done and they have given you permission then that would be fine

It's illegal if you are not the owner of the music and the copyrights to that music to upload. You could get yourself in heaps of trouble (and owe thousands of dollars) if you upload, say, a Korn track... because you are not the record label that owns the rights to distribute certain korn tracks.

The audio portal was a great idea, I got a few sound clips from there to add to movies. Great idea, way to improve Newgrounds, (even though it was great to begin with.)

I dunno if I'm the first one to point this out (couldn't be arsed reading 6 pages of comments to find out), but it'd be great if you could see what Audio portal entries you've done from your profile-page.

another thing, it'd be great if one could listen to the sounds/loops prior to downloading them, you know, just like at flashkit. unless you fix that, I'm afraid I'll stick to flashkit when it comes to sounds/loops.

L love it. I suck at Flash. But I'm good at audio. And also at video montages (Video Montages are the best I can get to flash.)
Thanks Tom, You're the coolest!
