I challenge theese people to explain me then. I grew up on a healthy dose of video game and movie violence. I listen to heavy metal music. I am a horror movie buff. The gorier the better in my opinion. Yet somehow even though I am obviously a prime candidate to have gone on a shooting spree, I never even came close. I have a wife and a kid, I am a pacifist (mostly, not completely though), and I eat my vegitables. So there.

What about teenage girls? About 1/3rd of the gamers are female. Most people are still stuck with the geeky view of gamers. They imagine dorky kids with glasses and no life whatsoever. I'm not saying you think that, but this helped as an example.

Besides, there are many criticists who are neither gamer nor designer, but oppose the proposed anti-gaming laws. In many states the proposed restrictions were rejected by the court as it didn't confer with the right of free speech.

Exactly, 99.999999% of the gamers and action-movie viewers never commit any acts of violence. Just because some psycho ends up shooting people after playing GTA for 26 hours and watching all the Jerry "you know what this scene need? an explosion!" Bruckenheimer movies, doesn't mean ALL gamers are like that. A few black sheep make the entire community look bad. And there are many narrowminded fools out there, filled with prejudice, who gladly seek out any reason to restrict somethng they don't understand.

Well, i'm kinda with zendahl there...

Of course i'm just 14, and i still have the mid teens left where most shit happen according to the world society (no offence)

But i've still played Quake 2 when i was 6 years old...
I played Goldeneye 007 for Nintendo 64 when i was 7 (Those kind of game was rated for 15 year olds)
And i've been bullied throughout 1:st - 6:th grade worst were in 5th and 6th grade wich included being beated up and abused in every ways.

I'm a mad Metal freak, i growl songs for myself sometimes, no matter what genre and what song.
I love horrormovies, i did even see The Omen. (Here in Sweden the top rating age is 15.
And i CAN easily become angry, e.g. i have a kinda bad temper.

But i've still never hit one single person.

Sorry for the double post, but the most reason for my bad temper is because of being bullied so long time and so many times.

So i say that the blaming on violent games is because they don't wanna blame their "perfect" society and systems.

I'll agree with that Denta, I think these people are too high and mighty to think that the problem is their parenting. It's easier to point fingers. I've played video games my whole life, love metal, love horror movies, and I've never done a violent act in my whole life.

Quoting the laywer against video gaming, Jack Thompson, “Murder simulators are not constitutionally protected speech. They’re not even speech. They’re dangerous physical appliances that teach a kid how to kill efficiently and to love it.”

I think this is ridiculous, I'm pretty sure anyone who hasn't played a video game could STILL kill someone efficiently. But nooo, only gamers are good killer, and boy do they love it!! I don't need to watch a cartoony game character shoot somone in the face to know that that would kill them. Jack Thompson and other anti-violence people are just looking for something to blame.

I wonder if it works the other way around, say a child grows up playing Monopoly, is he more likely to become a rich real estate agent? If I play Roller-CoasterTycoon am I more likely to become the owner of my own 6 Flags park?

To blame some psychos lunacy on a game is stupid.

The only reason politicians throw hissy-fits over video-games is because they want to make paranoid parents support them for pretending they care about what we teens do and play. To tell the truth, polititians don't give a fuck what teens do unless it helps them get support.

What I think of while reading this is the Columbine Massacre. First of al, the kids who did this were disturbed. One was a psycopath (Which acctually means he doesn't feel empathy, unlike most people make them out to be) and they had a history of being bad, aven pre 1993, when Doom came out. Doom wasn't the cause, it was just the meium. Also, I love how the tried to sue Maxis over The Sims 2, because it allowed you to make your own skins. That is like trying to sue Microsoft over MS Paint because you can draw a penis on it.

For the past year the gaming community has known yet another threat.
The most foul, the most wretched creature known to mankind, has decided to make films about games. This creature goes by the cruel name of Uwe Boll.

Overall, I'd rather pierce my dickhead with a needle than watch one of his films. Recently he produced a film about Pac-man. I happened to notice a trailer on the net, and watched it. Not knowing it was made by Uwe boll, I assumed it was a parody.
How wrong I was.

With the horrible acting, the lowzy script and poor special effects, it simply couldn't be anything else than a parody. But then I saw the name Uwe Boll appear in the credits. And I knew my worst nightmare had manifested itself in flesh.

It seems Uwe Boll's ability, poor as it is, decays with time. Eventuelly, we'll be stuck with films like "Pong, revenge of Darth Pongster" and other ripped-off Atari classics.

I dont believe in any god whatsoever, but I dearly pray to nothing that lightning strikes this man...

In that case, either google it or browse www.ifilm.com for pac-man: the movie. It should be there somewhere. But I urge you to prepare yourself for images too dreadful to bear....

If it's the one where the guy is wearing a yellow motorcycle outfit and helmet, it's not real. It's a parody mocking Uwe Boll.

More dangerous than anything, I think, is the prevalence of guns in our society. That helps allow violence.

Of course, they're just blaming games in an attempt to hide from the facts.
They allow your society the means to kill people way too easily. In some cases, the reason for the act of violence may be games, but films or books just as well.

Yeah, i think the most cases is because of being bullied all the freaking time.

And i doubt that even Postal would make kids to psycos, like the games has sublimal messages or transfering "psyco waves" into their fragile little minds.

Of course some games are indeed real harsh where you kill pepole brutaly and where you use a samuraj sword to chop pepoles heads off and with the not prettiest language on earth. But that doesn't include tutorials on how to load and reload guns and what the weakest spots on a person is so that you can kill him easily. And almost everyone on earth thinks that we should have love, peace and understanding etc.

But i think they should remember that IT ISN'T REAL LIFE, IT'S A MONITOR.
