Talking about TheThing going on vacation... I'll be going on vacation from Friday-Tuesday. So I should be back Wednesday or so. This is probably going to kill the activity we got going here but I'll be posting the next list of ideas once I talk it over with Phantom. I'd prefer to do this talk with him when I am back from vacation.

Not necessarily. Friday-Tuesday or Friday-Wednesday is such a short period, you'll be able to jump right back in where we left off, unless someone else shows up for discussion or something, and that's unlikely. Even then, you'll only have to read a few posts to get caught up.

I would, but I doubt my parents would let me go to Boston by myself. Besides, I'm too young to do fun stuff legally.

Hey guys! I just got back home about 4 hours ago. I had a great time on vacation but I'm more happy to be back as I have a lot of motivation and I want to get right down to business. It's 11:30 PM now which is a little late for me since I'm tired so I'll make this brief.

There is an idea in development for the LD System that involves training prospects (future NGDD members). It was an idea that was mentioned a while back here in the thread and lately I was talking with a friend about a Halo clan i run and he spoke about having prospects and stuff and that got me thinking about the NGDD. This idea will really determine if the LD System will be a fail or a success. From this moment on the NGDD is taking a risky path which could lead us anywhere.

I will also start nominating some potential Department Leaders. Not all the department leaders I'm looking at are NGDD former members. I'm seeking for the perfect people for the job. The NGDD is all about improvement so if you don't get chosen then it's not the end of the world. Just keep working at protecting Newgrounds and good things will come :)

The nominated department leaders will go through a probation as well. A tougher probation then the one a normal member would receive. I'm also going to post the probation requirements for each department and how the "Training System" or "Prospect System" will play along.

As far as Boston, I'd go if I could (anything to get away from my accursed little brother!), but sadly I don't have a driver's license and my parents have neither the time nor the interest to drive me. Maybe someday I'll be able to attend a meetup, but that time is not now.

Also, as far as the new probation requirements... Well, I'll comment on them when I see them. I can only give the general advice now that they (obviously) should be tough enough to keep out the incompetent but lenient enough to allow anyone with dedication and some sign of intelligence.

I'd like to join the flash department. I mean, the only requirement I have is 30 good and detailed reviews. I'll join as I haven't been reviewing a lot at all and this will be motivation to get voting for some exp and to review some stuff. I like reviewing the stuff that's under judgement personally but that's just me. Also hopefully this'll get me more active in the BBS.

Also that was (under the more-recent Department system) the Portal Department, rather than the Flash Department. Yeah, I know, it's a very common mistake. However, if you want to stick around, toss around ideas, and contribute to the club redesign (as long as DarkSoldier hasn't forgotten this place exists), that would be swell, and you can join once the time comes.

Ok. I think it's pretty cool that there's a club that you can at least talk in and suggest stuff when you're not in it.

No, i know this place still exists. I've just been kind of busy these past few weeks. I was actually suppose to get things done fast but I just got busy. And i know that's been the same excuse I've given for a while but what else do you want to tell you, a lie? Truth be said, it's probably for the best that i finish what's making me busy than working on the NGDD because once i start announcing the Department Leaders we're now down to business. The people I have in mind have not yet been contacted but once they're we've officially put ourselves in a no-going-back zone. Anyways.. I should no longer be busy tomorrow or so. This summer's gone pretty fast :(

Uh.. that's only for the Re-design stage. Afterward you will need to be a member to contribute information here publicly. You can always suggest to me things when you're not a member through private messages :)

One man, one vote. As long as no alts or proxies are used to ruin the system, a user can vote however they want on a flash.

Ah, thdrkside. You're the one who's, what, threatening to ruin Clock Day or something? Anyway, it's only "fair" if that's what they think the submission should get. If they're giving it a passing score because they think it's just going to pass, that's fucking stupid and it hurts the experience for the rest of us. But like Shrums said, one person, one vote, and it's not really "cheating" if they're not pulling out Tor. Just really, really annoying, in my opinion and in that of most of the people here.

any updates on the renovations to this thread? i'm in the ngpd and hopefully i'll fit the requirements for the egb after clock day. might as well get involved with this thread too. if there's anything i can do to help, let me know, and when it's ready, i'll be here.

Just what DarkSoldier said above. We're near the brink of getting this rebuilding into full swing, but once again, it's his move to decide who he wants to nominate as leaders and to contact them. It's a reasonable assumption to think that he's at least considering it in some share of his free time, though it's probable that he isn't himself ready to contact anyone.

Hey guys, it's been a while. How are ya'll doing? I see that Phantom hasn't been shitting up the place recently. Just out of interest, how do you choose your leaders? I've been very curious to know how you can get really antisocial people on Newgrounds to dominate this club. I mean, it's like having police for a community, but the chief being a thief. It just doesn't quite roll if you catch my drift, yo. Why was he in power?

You obviously came here trying to start an argument with/about Phantom. So I'd like to advise our members to NOT reply to GOTHCLAWZ.

Just posting to let DarkSoldier and SoulMaster know I'm not a drive-by applicant. I'm more interested in this thread than the EGB or the NGPD, both of which I'm a regular in. If you need any help with any of this stuff DS, or have any parts of the new system that you'd like some suggestions about, I'd be glad to help you out with what little help I can offer at this point. :) I'm on NG all the time now, and It'd really bum me out if this redesign doesn't go through. Hope to see this place up and running soon!

You flew right out of the NGPD though, michelin. Wasn't a long time that you were there, but yeah, I'd call you a regular. :P

As for the NGDD, a lot of people who are signing up to the NGPD seem really confused about our rules, compared to this places' rules... and i suppose it's always going to happen.

You have amazing forum skills for such a recent comer to the BBS, so I'd say it would be OK IF we were accepting new members at this time. However, the NGDD is currently in a sort of overextended hibernation period, as you would know if you had read at least the most recent page of the thread. Thus, we're not accepting new members at this point. Feel free to stick around and discuss what direction this place might take from here though, if you're serious about joining when the Department is rebuilt.

We have been waiting for over a month since your last post (not counting that warning against replying to GOTHCLAWZ). Is there any news from your end? Any word from Phantom or yourself concerning new Department leaders? Or have you no free time in which to run the NGDD?

Gentlemen of the NGDD, I would love to join your fine estableshment. However, I know it's closed for renovations. If possible, I would love to help with the renovations, or if not possible, I would absolutly love you if you sent me a PM when it opens back up.

You need to take a good look around here and see that none of the old guys - except for 2 or 3 - have interest anymore. There's nothing that we do that the EGB or the NGPD doesn't do or can't do. Newgrounds has changed since this place began, and other, mightier clubs and threads have fallen: Rage's, Are We Still Friends?, and many more have become stuff of memories, legends that the old guys pass on to the new members. Do you want to end up like the Newgrounds Mafia, a group of guys talking with a bunch of 1 posters, or do you want to die with whatever dignity we have left?

I say we end the pain and kill it now. Kill it now before it becomes embarrassing. If you want to continue, wait 6 months, find a few older guys who'll keep posting, and let the new guys not be so intimidated. But turn off the respirator on this thread.

I quite agree. There is no need in keeping something alive that is just taking its last gasps at life whenever someone is bumping it. I agree with TheThing when he says we should just get it sleep.

Think to yourself....Once you have come up with this "Plan" of yours will it really bring this place to life? Will it really bring in newer users? And will it really get continuously bumped to the front page with new news and chat?

Myself, I think NO. The NGPD and the EGB have taken over what this club once was....It would be a shame and such a waste of time to even TRY and revive it. Just let it go....

Now, I don't think that the idea of the NGDD should die or move to the EGB or NGPD. But clearly, this thread has stagnated. Like I suggested, wait 6 months to a year and open a new thread. Have an idea that would distinguish us from the EGB, and see if Phantom and Lizzardis will come back, and recruit a few guys from the EGB and NGPD and guys you know from the rest of the forums. I know I'll come back, but I can't speak for the rest of the guys.

So, we're just waiting for Dark and Phantom to cast a vote.

I disagree with both of you. If you read DS' post on the last page about his plans for the Department, It looks very promising. It isn't taking it's last breaths, it's just now taking its true form. Read the post about the new system on the last page and it makes the thread look like it's got a bright future. The EGB and NGPD are COMPLETELY different. They are just report threads for malicious activity. The NGDD covers a much larger area, and includes a diverse rank structure over all sections of NG, and that's why it's taking so long for all of this to go through.

He's just waiting until he has the time to kick this thread back into full gear, because as soon as he contacts the new department heads, there's no turning back, and it is gonna take a lot of time and effort to get the place up and running again through the new system. However, it can, and most likely WILL be done. It should be fairly easy to recruit members for this thread, as it is a really fun idea. Just give it some time and everything should work itself out. I understand how you guys feel as members from before, but as someone who wasn't involved, looking at this thread from the third person, it looks like it's gonna jump back up. It may be different, but it will work.

I would like to add that the club was at it's most active peek in the last year right before I was kicked. As soon as I was kicked people started slowly leaving and stopped posting. The club itself isn't really needed though anymore as the EGB really does enough if not more than what this thread has done in the last year or so. I think you guys should just let it die out and/or lock it. You just keep posting that you're going to do something, but every time it's the same thing about being too busy. Something that would honestly take a total of one day to do on top of it.
