I'm going to say no. Reason for that being the NGDD isn't accepting members at the moment because of the reconstruction period. But Anal, since you're a former leader I'm sure we could use your voice here and maybe we could re-install you into the administration of the NGDD somehow too?

Obviously this is TheThing, and I'm from the Newgrounds Department of Defense. I'm going through the most up-to-date roster (probably made 6 months ago) and sending PMs to everyone on it. You just need to reply with the answers for few simple questions listed below. Just a simple answer will do, i.e. I don't want an essay, just a yes or no, or a small elaboration. You have 1 week to respond to this PM from the date it was received, so you have until 11:59 PM, June 12, 2009.

I used to be active here in late 08', but took a break from newgrounds to focus on school and other problems. According to the DoDBot, I'm still a member. Maybe I could resume my duty, instead or re-applying?

Because after reading through a few pages, I see you guys aren't taking new members. But would I still be considered a "new member"?

Please tell me this question is rhetorical. Are you seriously suggesting that people would want to use the XR System? It was a good system and all but it can't be used for today's Newgrounds.

No, sorry. You were inactive and therefore kicked from the NGDD. You need to re-apply but we're not accepting applications at the moment. Sorry. Feel free to stick around though and help with the reconstruction of the NGDD.

Thanks to TheThing's reminder, I'm back in the area of C&C. Seeing the recent posts, it's obvious that I'm not going to be re-accepted until the club redesign, however if you'll allow me to stick around I hope to re-apply when it's done.

So, this is finally being launched again, huh? I'll start posting on a regular basis as I had before and contribute to any conversation as I see necessary. That is, until Pre-season football starts, then expect me to post no more than once a week.
Now then, on to business. Suggestions we have for the new system, no matter how late it has become.

-Probation alternative.
Starting a new system is like pushing a boulder uphill, the more members we have, the easier it is to get to the top as a team. giving future members a probation period is not only unconditional, but it is also highly unnecessary. Different members require different tests.

-Weekly Updates.
As I say it, I know whoever gets stuck with this task (phantom) will have to remain organized to ensure that this club stays at the top.

-A Purpose.
This one is self-explanatory.

No purpose=no reason to be etc etc.

Great thanks to TheThing for sending me the PM. I apologise for just abandoning the NGDD and leaving the Flash project unfinished.

I would like to stay in the Internal Affairs department and would like to help as much as I can with the update. Unfortunately, I cannot complete the Flash project because that takes time I really do not have... though, I could probably create images such as banners.

Now, I will not be as active as I used to be but at least I will be posting.

And being the only member in Internal Affairs, I feel I may be responsible and must do something for the NGDD. I'll host another competition and I hope, unlike last time, that we get more than three competitors.

If you would like to participate in a competition, please tell me what you would like the competition to be of.

It is great to see some NGDD veterans here. Also, I do remember promising to keep you all posted on the "Prayer" by Disturbed collab. Well, here is a screenshot of the main menu and we are very close to finishing!

But I did get a PM from TheThing asking the questions. He also said that he would be "negiotiating whether you can return with full rank until the redesign is sorted out.".

No big deal if I can't return until the re-design, though.

A few notes:

1.) Sorry to those who didn't get a PM. I was using the most up-to-date roster, and you just weren't on it. And I didn't send one to you Anal, because A) you've been poking your sexy head around these parts recently and B) your name isn't with the rest of the names.

2.) I'm sorry if I haven't replied to your PMs yet. Contrary to popular belief, I do have a life, and on top of that, I've been getting 346874651 PMs an hour, so bear with me.

3.) Feel free to start posting any ideas you may have so we can get this shit done and over with. But remember; Dark and I have final say in any decision. If we both say "No" to an idea, it means no. You can argue through PMs, but chances are you aren't going to win.

4.) Oh, right. Since just about everyone hasn't been active for a good 2-3 months (except for a few people), everyone is "officially" removed from the roster. But don't get disappointed! Feel free to post in this thread any ideas you have, or if there's a good discussion going down. You're all temporary members, so you can post in here any time you want.

5.) PM stands for "private message". Unless it was said by you, or is an idea for the new NGDD, keep it in your inbox.

6.) As you might have been able to tell, this isn't super well organized. This leg of the redesign (Codenamed: Total Recall) is being done by 1 man in his spare time. He's done 95% of it himself, so bear with me.

7.) We need people to run contests. Don't fill my inbox with any requests to head those up, since I'm not sure how we're going to organize that group of people, but just keep it in the back of your mind.

8.) If I come off as douche-baggy, I'm sorry; I'm a little stressed, and I need to get this going somewhere before everyone losing interest. Again.

I do agree that different members require different tests, but I feel that a probation period is necessary. Many people join, then never show up again. The probation process is needed to make the roster much easier to maintain without a constant stream of PMs.

Besides, If you guys put a link in your sig to here, or something, it could draw in some members. The guys we have right now have all been in here for a while and know the flaws in the system. We need only them to help fix those flaws.

Tough prospect. I say we have a rotation, so someone isn't stuck with it every week. But I like the idea.

No but, TheThing just Private Messaged everyone that appeared on the DoDBot. So whoever wasn't on that list did not receive a private message. That list can only be updated by Phantom since i think he is the only one with access to that account. After the incident with the NGDD account being hacked we decided that it would be best for only 1 person to have access to the new NGDD account. And that one person is Phantom.

Thanks for the PM TheThing I'm delighted to see that APF is here again as well as the thread being active. I think the Pm was helpful. I did use to post here often but lack of activity put me off I would still like to be in The Flash Department. I noticed your new level up APF you were level 31 for ages love The Mace as you can see I hit level 30.

I talked about 3 of those topics in my mega-post, read the arguments made about them before posting your own.

As for the new thread, There seems to be a large majority for it. I'm too tired right now to get out numbers, but most want a new thread, a few have said possibly, and a few have said no. I'll get exact numbers when I'm not dieing.

The arguments I've heard are:

Easier for the new members to pick the correct department and see the rules.

I have an idea which I have permission to post and needs discussing:

- Rank promotions should not be given by XR or points and statistics, but by department leaders and NGDD leaders. That way we forget all the XR calculating and statistics will only be needed to join but not to climb the ranks.

2.) Guys, post your thoughts on a topic. Obviously you can't be for or against roster updates, but you can say that they should be monthly, or done by 3 people, or something. And if you do say "yes"/"no", then explain in as much detail as you can. I wan to hear everything you have to say about the idea so that I, Dark, and everyone else can decide on what the best option is.

3.) KEEP POSTING. I know that we've seen a spurt of activity, but in order for this redesign to work, a lot of different people need to post.

To help understand what I'm looking for in a post, I'll do an example:

I think they should be weekly. If they're kept on top of, it shouldn't be that hard. Very little goes on in 1 week, and it can possibly drive people to do more to better Newgrounds, like creating good topics and voting fairly.

I'm thinking that we should designate a group of Competition Overseers. They can still be a part of their respective Departments, but rather than having the leader of the Department run it, it can be anyone in that specified group, having possibly 2 or 3 people running the competition.

We need a new thread. I understand this one has a lot of history, but the NGDD has changed a lot in the last 2 years or so since that first post, we I think a new thread would reflect that. We have an NGDD bot, a Portal Department, and many other changes that would make it easier for new prospects to understand the rules and regulations of the club.

I doubt it was a year ago, but as you might have been able to see, we've just started the redesign. I don't think it will take more than a month to sort out, but you never know. Periodically check in to see the progress we've made.
