I can't wait until the The Laura Doffman System/LD system takes effect. It will keep everything more organized and easier to keep track of. My main concern is though, I'm not sure it will be enough. Don't get me wrong, it is a great start to get the NGDD back into the "golden age", but there needs to be more to not only attract new, aspiring members with great potential, but to keep the ones we already have from going back into the inactive state.
My suggestion would be to renew the departments. If I'm correct, there are four departments, one of Flash, one of BBS, one of audio, and one of B/P.
The flash department deals with lending a helping hand to new artists who are struggling along with flash. This is a difficult job, because if you write a review, more times often than not, it will be deleted along with the artist's flash game/movie. It also is time consuming, since you have to walk them step by step into improving their flash skills, which takes 2-3 weeks minimum. What members have been doing currently, is avoiding this department because of its thanklessness and hard work.
The BBS department deals with helping new users to newgrounds improve their post quality, also, by walking them through step by step. This job is hard, since if you try to help them too aggressively, (try to make them improve at a rate too fast for them to handle) then they will get worse at posting and you will most likely be labeled a "grammar Nazi" or another similar, demeaning title. It is also difficult in a sense that you do not know if the users are purposely posting like they way they are or not, and they might even be alts. What I've noticed the NGDD members do is just simply point out that users are "spammers" and nothing else.
The audio department is very similar to the Flash department, by having the same circumstances and results as listed above.
Last, The B/P department. This department deals with regulation of the portal, meaning to try to "blam" entries by known portal Spammers. This job in my opinion, is the easiest, since the NGDD member benefits the most from it by improving their b/p as well as there is no commitment needed, such as helping to try to change spammers, which is another big issue.
Life, the creator of this club, but not its idea, knew these tasks were difficult, which is why he made the rewards great. My suggestion is to change how we go about in the departments so we will be moving somewhere as before instead of just "stat-whoring" and using this club for only our self-benefit. I know I cannot change anything with my current rank or lack of, which is why I give you, the NGDD members suggestions on how to better this crew and yourselves as a whole.
I am also open to any suggestions you may have.
