hello guys, I am back from my Granddads funeral in Ireland, it was good and sad at the same time. I got to hold the coffin as I walked down. I had 2 and a half pints of magnas so it was all good.

-Sorry "GOTHCLAWZ" for saying that, it was wrong. If you want to talk here you have to be a member, because NGDD is about protecting and serving NGDD. Phantom is your problem, pm him or something.

No we aren't. Our job isn't to blam spam animations. That would be against the rules of newgrounds. Now if we all happen to have the same opinion on spam then so be it. I don't always vote 0 on spam submissions. Sometimes I find them funny and vote to protect them as do some of the other members in this club. The way to vote is up to the individual not a group.

Well Malachy did give me a 3 day ban for back seat modding, personally I really don't understand this rule but I guess a mod is a mod and that is what they are here for. I probably will not post much now though anyway, The only forum I really enjoy here is c&c.

I was threatened by BananaBreadMuffin for the same thing, I still think he overreacted since there were things mods can miss.

I'm guessing it is because if regs start acting like mods, newgrounds in general will become less free, and moderators would have less power. One of the key aspects in my opinion-don't get offended in any way- is that members of crews like the NGPD and NGDD are becoming better at posting and they see other posts that they think are 'crap,' since it isn't what their standards require, which is why they try to correct it, and that is why I think there is a fine line between helping newer users out and backseat modding. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

I talked to Malachy about this not too long ago and I really agree with his point after he expressed his opinion on the subject. When you think about it what exactly is the point of all of us telling the person that their topic needs to be in a different forum? We all rush to answer it like we need to impress someone whether it be in another forum or whether it be in the wi/ht, which I think a lot of people do it there to make the regulars list, even though the amount of posts people make isn't even something that we pay attention to when we make our decisions on who to vote for. On that note the update for the regulars list is going to be updated tomorrow. I'm sort of excited because it will be the first one that I will be a part of on the other side of the voting.

While I agree with your theory to an extent, I reckon there's more to it than that. In my view, I think some people try to exert mod-like authority so they might improve their chances of becoming one. What I mean is that they might be of the mindset that if they act like a mod now by correcting people constantly, they might get noticed and modded.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with trying to help other people out to an extent, however if it comes to the point where you're developing a superiority complex, then it becomes counterproductive.

Corky, there's a reg members list?

I don't really care if I get banned for what I did, the person made a "kill the kk" crew and I literaly said that you can't have hate crews and you can't make threats. I personaly believe this in no way deserves a 3 day ban, of any forum I have been to (even ones with more members than Ng) newgrounds has the strictest rules and some of them I disagree with.

Corky, there's a reg members list?

For the wi/ht? forum there is a regulars list. It's a list that to get on you have to be voted in by the other regulars and you need so many votes to get accepted. They do the voting once a month. After the regulars list there is a members list you can make and obviously you can only be voted in by the people on the members list.

Sounds like an elite list, I take it only the most recognised of members get in there. Any advantages of being in like hidden content or is it primarily for just being a regular?

There isn't anything you really get with it. It's just a kind of recognition for helping people out. I guess that's the best way of putting it. Kind of like getting an award for doing something.

What we do not do is talk about what submissions to blam or what should be blammed though. That is against the rules of not only the club, but newgrounds in general. You can't just say, "Hey, I think this should be blammed!" We leave the voting up to the individual because like I have said before some people may enjoy what you think needs to be blammed. A lot of people don't like spam and neither do I, but now and then comes along a spam submission that makes me laugh and that I find funny so I protect it instead of blamming. If we agree to vote 0 on certain submissions then we are doing exactly what spam groups are doing and that is really against the rules. So please don't talk about blamming submissions here in that sense. Do you understand what I mean?

Infamous.. they are all the same really. Now a couple of days ago I saw a flash by the Shades Gang, which was very good. I always assumed they were a spam group, but this submission makes me think otherwise. Or perhaps they are and sometimes they just come up with decent submissions now and then.

By the way folks, I have started work on a big flash game, sidescroller with guns and stuff - plays through the persons life. I am trieing to get some new ideas in it, you start of a married man with 2 children and it is the destruction of your life. 2 people from school are helping, turns out my friend used to go on newgrounds and I never realized :3 - http://waterman7373.newgrounds.com/ - mainly sprite stuff but he is quite at actionscript.

Actually, you don't have the requirements for the Department of Flash...

Requirements: One flash submission that passed judgment, and shows artist potential (Does not have to be solo, can also be a part of a collaborative effort)

The flash department's aim is to discuss and take part in protecting the portal, this can be a range of things from flagging flashes and reviews that break the rules to voting fairly and giving detailed reviews to help authors.

We will take part in missions to protect the portal such as b/p, review competitions and much much more.

200 b/p points
Silver whistle
Or 30 decent reviews

Your reviews are a bit short and so i will ask you to make them longer in the future. You don't have a lot of posts but just happen to pass 100 posts. You need to be active in the BBS and post here as much as possible. I know the discussion can be a bit dead sometimes so start up a new discussion; change the subject of what we're talking about.

I'll allow you to join the Portal Department.

You have to go through a hard and brutal 10 day probation.

Probation Info:

You must submit a minimum of 1 review per day in those 10 days. Post at least once a day in the NGDD. Get 10 B/P a day. And either stay at Bronze or get a higher whistle but we will expect you to get a higher whistle level if you pass the probation level. We also expect you to get into the Newgrounds Police Department as soon as your reach 400 B/P points (doesn't have to be during the 10 days but we expect you to get there in no more then a month). You must do all those during the 10 days.

Probation Starts: October 2nd 2008

Probation Ends: October 13th 2008

Here's the Portal Department Summary if you forget:

Portal Department:
The job of the NGDD Portal Department is based around protecting the portal from not only spam submissions, but also abusive reviews. The members are meant to blam and protect, flag abusive reviews, and leave helpful, non abusive reviews for flash and audio artists.
To help our Portal Department members, it is required, depending on their b/p rank, that they join either the Newgrounds Police Department or the Elite Guard Barracks to help them along their way with blam and protection points.
Requirements: 100 b/ps OR bronze whistle OR 10 good reviews. But a mix of all three is most recommended, and will increase chances of getting in.

Hey guys I just came back from school. Last night I did not have homework so I was on the computer all day, I earned 100 b/p points! I am so happy, three more days like that and I will become a Police Sergeant.

-I got those [LoD] and [Zeemborkinater] bastards on the run! Yesterday, They had 4 crap-worthy animations and I blamed them! today I did not see one of them post at most 1 animation when I checked on my school computer!

-The [FF] sometimes makes good animations so I vote 3 sometimes like yesterday, today they were not as good so I blamed them.

sirtom93 I agree that topic I remember well your advice seemed fair, I guess different mods. Three days though is harsh. When I go banned by TigerKitty for writing a review and giving it a o because ,it would not load. I thought that was harsh as it was not as if I insulted the author. Well good idea to keep an eye out for people submitting games, from AddictingGames.com. The games are made by Games2win and are being submitted, by wrong author Im sure.

Last night happened to be my worst night for B/P. It was the first time this week that I actually got under 100 B/P. I've been pretty good so far though. You just voted lowly on them or they actually got blammed? It's rare that LordZeebmork has any stuff to get blammed. Don't worry though because if he wants them to pass for sure he will make them pass no matter what. He has his ways.

Yeah, you have the right idea now. It's not always 0's on spam submissions. Sometimes they aren't always so bad.

Yeah, I was thinking the EGB could have someone as a new member too. We haven't voted whether someone should be a member in that club in awhile.

As a lot of you know I was permabanned from reviewing by Kidray76. Now I'm not of course as I right reviews for the Review Request Club. I was lucky to get it lifted.

Things must have been easier when I joined because I don't really remember having to wait a week before I was accepted into the club, but maybe I did. Oh yeah and a little tip. When they are deciding for you to join they really don't like 1 line posts. ;)
