The Great Firewall of China. The Chinese government decided to put up a massive filter to stop Chinese citizens from looking at anything they thought "disagreeable". Sadly that includes porn, and there's a lot of hentai here on NG... So NG is blocked in China, and I don't assume that there's a ton of proxies left open to the Chinese either, which would allow them access to the outside.

At least we don't have to put up with that crazy Manchu called Dream-of-Duke for the time being as you know why. I hope he wasn't hit when the earthquake happened though.

So how exactly would you firewall an entire nation? And what kind of punishment would somebody get were they to override the firewall and go to a pornsite or something? Cuz maybe it's just me, but I think death is kinda extreme for somebody being horny, if that is the punishment.

You know, I miss Des too. I remember how Des used to be one of the most active members around here.

China is stupid for putting up a firewall as it only increases peoples need to see the media. I believe North Korea do it aswell. China and North Korea are communist state one man dictatorships while countrys like vietnam, cuba and laos are just communist state rule and do not have such limitations on media control.

I hear Korea is the most closed in country - even worse than China. Imagine living in there. And why would the government care about people looking out for porn? I don't think that's the real reason why the great firewall of China is up and running.

While we are on the subject, one of my friends actually sent an email to a Hong Kong website one day in school saying simply, "You suck". They tracked it back to him and they considered him a terrorist. I can just see it now. Signs of my friend in Hong Kong with people scared to death that he is going to come over there and kill them. They took it a bit too far don't you think? A terrorist for saying you suck?

Laos is the best communist country in the world anyway.

I apologize for not getting the final statistics for the contest earlier, but congratulations to jew193 for being our winner of our second NG contest of the summer. Next contest will be in a few weeks, or maybe less. It all depends on how I feel like using my budget for the summer. Hopefully next contest we'll have a little more involvement.

What exactly did you guys do in the contest? Review, make audio, etc?

This contest was an Audio Review Contest. They reviewed Audio Submissions, and were graded based on how many lines were in their review. In more understandable terms of points, 2 lines = 1 point, 4 lines = 3 points, 6 lines = 5 points, 10 lines = 9 points. These guys all worked fairly hard on their reviews and hit on a lot of submissions for just the 5 or 6 members who were in the contest.

There are no requirements to join the NGDD, but you will be automatically dishonourably discharged and lose all points if a post is not made in two weeks without prior notice

There ARE requirements for joining the NGDD, and you can find those requirements if you look here. Read through them completely and come back when you fully understand them and have made your decision about which Department you would like to apply for.

I don't know if I have any authority here yet, but you do meet the requirements of at least 10 decent reviews. And your reviews are decent. So I'm pretty sure that means you can join, but if you don't post here regularly throughout the week then they can boot you out.

There's also a 10 day probation period if you are accepted into whatever department, in which you have to prove yourself.

Good job everyone. I can't believe I was in third place. I would've done better if it wasn't for work and with the storms blowing through this week I had my computer unplugged alot. It's also good that we're getting new members. Godd luck on the next contest.

As Portal Department Head, you know that you have the permission to accept him. It's your call MrFinland, so do it whenever you see that someone has a request for the Portal Department from now on, k?

How's everyone doing so far? Unfortunately I'm still fairly busy. Have some time to check NG every now and then, but I'm very busy at the same time.

Well now that I have the information and am 100 % sure about it, I welcome pidgeonx to our group. Hopefully you have read my previous post since that contains some suggestions.
On a different note, does anyone here have/will get Brawl? 3 days and I am getting it, so it'd be nice to match NGDD buddies.

Well done Jew193 after your ban its great you won. I did not know this was an audio contest, i thought it was like last time. If i had realised i would have written longer reviews never mind. Ive had a interesting day i got a head cold ,and i had a bad dizzy spell and i banged my head. Now i got a lovely black eye so i look feel pretty worn out.
