Ignore the fact that I cut out some of the argument; those points are so far and away from my main points that it's not worth arguing.

But my post wasn't just about making friends and opening up to people online. It was about respect, concern for others, and realizing that contest points don't matter when someone is talking about how internet stats don't matter.
I understand that. Most of us do have respect and concern for each other I would hope. A lot of the problem here now is we have tons of new members who don't know each other. Once everyone stays longer than 2 or 3 months they'll get to know each other better.
I think a 10-year-old kid who's got down-syndrome and just joined the site 3 days ago can understand a serious post when they see one. It doesn't matter who made it; they should be able to realize that that post is worth their time.
And as for Phantom (I haven't had a chance to read in full your rant to Gu-rilla), his whole deal is that he insults people. If he didn't or couldn't do that, it would be like Spielberg making cheap porn flicks, or Tom Brady playing PeeWee football.
Yea, it's funny when he insults people, but it isn't funny when he's writing a full page rant specifically targetted on one person, such as Gu-rrilla.
True, that last one was a bit harsh, but it was only from the frustration of you threatening to ban him for what he has always done. And those usually led to laughs by everyone, even the person who got "attacked".
Yea, and I told Phantom he was welcome back to the NGDD to return to his position in full. In fact, he was the one who gave me the go-ahead to have an election for a new leader.
That was months ago, way before I took my leave.
I warned him three times to stop the flame war he was brewing up in the NGDD.
I saw no flame war. Just people getting mad a Phantom for speaking. And the best way to stop a flame war, is to stop posting for a day or 2, and when you come back, don't even bring up the old topic. But that's IMO.
Do you know WHY I tried to stop him? Because if he started insulting new members who had no idea who he was, then they wouldn't want to be here purely because they felt insulted.
I see no insults directed at new members, unless those posts were deleted. The only insults I can see are directed at ShortMonkey, a member who's been around the NGDD for about the same time I have, and Gu-urilla, who's been here for a decent amount of time. And possibly you, depending on how you look at the situation.
Sure, it's ok to do what he was doing, but not when the NGDD is starting to become a bigger place like it used to be.
If you say the NGDD is bigger. It will never be anyway near where it was back at page 100 or 150, or maybe even 200.
Look at the earlier pages. I was reading them the other day and a lot of it was just business, which is what you were against. But it's things like business that get a club going.
No, I never said I was against business. I agree; business is what gets clubs going. But currently, this club has become business-like, meaning that rather than having fun or sharing a laugh, it's moving from contest to contest with random posts of shit woven in. And even when a decent post or subject is presented, people continue on around the topic, even when people try to talk about it.
I'll give you an ideal example of "business" in a club. The EGB probably had 4 or 5 posts over a 3 day period, which is incredibly unusual. NEVR posts up the stats on Tuesday and people flock to see what they look like on the memberlist. They all post about their stats and congratulate each other on their NG achievements. That's not business and stat talk, Thing?
First off, I haven't fully returned to the EGB, so I haven't been able to reassess the situation over there. Second, they know when a serious discussion is trying to be presented by a member, and generally ignore other, meaningless topics. Sure, they get excited when the memberlist comes out, but generally they'll change the subject within a day or 2.
In regards to the Phantom situation - there aren't many people who think I've handled it the wrong or immature way.
The reason I handled the situation the way I did was because he was upsetting people in the NGDD more than he was making them laugh. You can ask anyone and they'll tell you they feel the same exact way.
I will admit, Phantom was little bit harsher than usual, but he was only reciprocating what was thrown at him.
For some reason, which I don't know, it seems like you're making me out to be the bad guy who wants to shove our old leader aside and pretend he never existed.
Well, to me, it's pretty obvious that you do. I mean, the only old members here are you, Dark, and Short. And with Phantom out of the picture, you're the highest authority around here.
This is something I did not want to do, and I haven't.
Yes you have; he's done with the NGDD, or pretty much done.
I appreciate your argument and I've taken it to heart because it's good when someone calls me out on something they feel is wrong, but I just don't see how what I did was "disrespecting" Phantom, when he was writing full page insults.
You didn't start it; it started when Phantom came back, offered some advice in his way (not the best way, but his) and got punched in the face because of his inactivity and the way he talks. If anything, he was mad that this crew was starting to go downhill, and was trying to fire people up. He just got then fired up in the wrong direction.
