Guys I have some bad news. I won't be able to be here for Monday-Friday this week and most likely next week either. I have a job up in Connecticut and I'm being paid nearly $1000 a week for it. I'm getting really good pay so I'm gonna have to take it. I'm going to need someone to deposit for me for this upcoming week. Someone reliable who won't miss a deposit.

I'm calling out to Idiot-Finder for the job, but if not him it'll be someone else. If Cole is going to be inactive I'm going to need a Deputy Commander for the upcoming weeks as well. I'll be here on weekends, but not during weekdays. Only for two weeks though. Sorry this post is like a clusterfuck but I'm pretty pissed about the situation myself.

I'll keep you guys updated throughout the day on my decision.

Also, 24 B/Ps until my next rank, and one more day until level 28!

Does rank matter regarding setting up contests/quizes?

First, I'd like to congratulate DarkSoldier on becoming the BBS Dept. Head in my place. Just keep a box of tissues near by when I come back in full swing in early- to mid-June to take back my position at the throne on the BBS.

Well it depends:

1.) Only the Department heads can actually set-up a contest, i.e. rules, stats, XR, etc.

2.) Everyone gets an even slate when they participate in the contests. There are no pre-contest rankings, and no contest uses prior stats. Or at least they shouldn't. It might seem like the older members win the contests because they are clearly dedicated to the site, spending everyday (just about) for years on Newgrounds. Meaning that they have allotted/have more time in their lives for Newgrounds than a 15 year old High School student.

Yes thank you, I do mean the Portal department. I fit all three requirements, so I would like to request membership to the Portal Department.

1) I will try to bring back those BBS weekly updates even though they're very hard to make...

2) I would like to have some BBS Discussions on AIM like the Elite Guard Barracks are doing! I feel it is a great way to ask questions and discuss things. I will pm users from the BBS Department asking if they would like to participate in them. If you're not from the BBS Department and would like to participate in one then just quote me and leave your AIM username there.

I know how you feel. Sometimes I get that way when I come on NG, and it sucks. But after a while you get out of that stage. Just try coming on and depositing for a few days. Don't look at anything else except your deposit, then go out for a while. Or if you don't care about depositing, then just don't spend as much time here anymore.

I'm leaving DarkSoldier in charge of accepting new members. Normally it would be TheThing or MrFinland, but MrFinland is inactive and I find it quite unfair to give a Department Head's job to someone who isn't the Department Head anymore (no offense intended Thing).

So DarkSoldier this is your moment to shine. I apologize I'm leaving for a week everyone, but I will definitely miss you all (pausenot) and I'll hopefully see you all Friday night!

Review Contest

Ok, guys, I'm finally starting this review contest . RSVP date is 17th of May, this Saturday. Make sure to get your PM to me by then or you're not in. The contest starts on the 19th of May, Monday, and ends on the 1st of June. I'll be judging dates by the time NG uses so if you start reviewing a bit earlier and on your review it tells me you reviewed on the 18th, the day before the contest starts, it won't count.

Everyone can join as long as they get their PM through to me before Saturday. And I'd like and encourage as many people as possible to join. A review contest is something everyone can participate in.

Prizes:

First place - +100 XR
Second Place - +50 XR
Third Place - + 25 XR
Everyone else will get XR based on how much they earned throughout the contest

Here's a bonus - If you participate in this contest:

1 XR per 5 reviews as opposed to the usual: 1 XR per 10 reviews!

I also will give extra contest points (not XR) for the better and beefier reviews but I don't want to see a long review with each paragraph basically repeating the same thing over and over again. If I see 3 sentences that give the same message, that will count as one sentence and when I compress it and see what it's worth, I'll give it the points it deserves. I will do this with every review, no matter how many times the same message is repeated.

Due to how diligently I'll be marking these reviews, there won't be any updates throughout the contest - which means you won't know how everyone is going on the ladder. In fact, it will probably take me a while to calculate all the points up so there's a good chance you won't see the results until a week after the contest.

For the unintelligent reviews throughout the contest with one line such as "good", "this sucks" etc, I will deduct 3 contest points (not XR). And keep in mind, I'll be more generous with the points on audio reviews.

Flash reviews will be rated on the scale from 0-50 contest points and Audio reviews on a scale from 0-80 points (except for the reviews which deduct three points which include Flash and Audio reviews).

If you wish to join the NGDD, you will have to go through a probational period of 10 days.

But this is only after you have been accepted by our BBS Dept. Head: DarkSoldier.

In these 10 days, you will be monitored and you posts will be analyzed, so don't scew up.

This is the general job description:

BBS Department:
The job of the NGDD BBS Department is first and foremost to be responsible BBS posters. They are not here to be spammers and assholes around the BBS, but instead be role models for the Department of Defense. Their job extends from creating interesting topics all the way to answering questions posted in the Where Is/How To Section. They are also in charge of informing moderators of unseen spam and keeping an overall friendly board environment.
Your job does not require you to be a robot, and it does not require you to be a negative, no-fun person. Be yourself on the forums, but be helpful not harmful to other users and their opinions.
Requirements: A good, non-spamming poster

A note to DarkSoldier:

I personally vouch for youngblood, he is a respectful, intelligent, and frequent poster in different clubs and organizations around the BBS.

Its funny you have leveled up but iam so used to seeing you with level 27, take a bit of getting used to.
Anyone find how rude authors reponses are i checked my audio review,s and they said abusive things which are way out of order .

Pinoyguy75 is requesting to be in the Portal Department as far as i know. He is a user that i am having lots of trouble deciding on if i should let him in or not.

Let me recap the Portal Department Summary:

Portal Department:

The job of the NGDD Portal Department is based around protecting the portal from not only spam submissions, but also abusive reviews. The members are meant to blam and protect, flag abusive reviews, and leave helpful, non abusive reviews for flash and audio artists.
To help our Portal Department members, it is required, depending on their b/p rank, that they join either the Newgrounds Police Department or the Elite Guard Barracks to help them along their way with blam and protection points.

Requirements: 100 b/ps OR bronze whistle OR 10 good reviews. But a mix of all three is most recommended, and will increase chances of getting in.

Recently, It has been brought to my attention by long-time Newground users that he is just voting based on stats.

My Proof:

Now, I have read 2 of Pinoyguy75's blog post and he says that he votes in the flash portal just for stats!

I have seen you around the BBS and i have seen plenty of your posts!

You will be put on a 10 day probation period where you will be monitored very carefully and even after the probation you will still be monitored. You will probably not want to mess up in your 10 day probation period as no one does!

You're very smart Pinoyguy75 for going back to fair voting because as far as i know you voting unfairly was told about to WadeFulp and there was a lot of discussion about you have your Blams and Saves being put back to 0.

Voting unfairly is something you never want to do especially just for stats. You may have been inspired to do so by NewGrounds Mod life but it's really not a smart choice especially if your stats mean a lot to you.

Ok thats fine, but to be fair "saving whoring" is just as bad as voting 0 on everything, albeit saved flashes can be removed, but that being said i'm not the only one to commit this crime and i'm not the only one who will admit to it (maybe stupid enough to make a post about it LoL) so having my count reset seems extreme without reseting others (unless thats happened...). BUT... LoL i have reformed my voting and will end this before it becomes a rant or plea however you may see it. Thanks for the chance and listening.
