the worst things humans have ever done..... Other than trap our selves in a frustrating day to day life of work sleep eat repeat. the way we live is the very end of us. our entertainment only occupies our minds so that we never realize how quickly and pointlessly were wasting our lives. either our job becomes our lives or our religion does. those who choose neither live broken lives, and those who choose both will live incomplete lives. It is our error and may never be corrected. Those who can't live this way are outcasted and viewed as someone lower than others. However those who can't live that lifestyle are one step closer to something better....a solution.

Woah! That's a huge assumption. Maybe you could justify that statement first. And then prove that animals fighting every day for survival can be happy. And then prove that they are aware of this.

I don't think I'm making a large assumption. Maybe your goal in life is enlightenment, but that is just the way that you achieve happiness. My point is that hapiness is the ends, not the means, and the means are ridiculously complicated for us.

Animals fighting for everyday survival are taking part in nature's oldest game. To them, it is instinct. Plus, unlike us, they are fully equipped for it: Squirrels run at incredible speeds, rabbits have great hearing, etc. Death, to them, is certainly as costly and terrible as it is to us. But avoiding death is far easier.

As for the awareness, that's partly the point: Because they can not be aware of happiness on the deep level that we are, they achieve their own, simple happiness. Perhaps our happiness is more profound, but it's much harder to achieve. They take what they have, and get the maximum from it.

I think xineph is right, an animal can be emotionally statisfied with things that look simple in our eyes, like finding tasty grass or an interesting object. Many tests have been done to prove that animals have feelings too, and it turns out they have. Not all animals of course, mainly mammals. Though they may be more primal, they're easier to statisfy than humans, who have to fullfil complex needs in order to aquire (sp?) happiness.

Humans have been responsible for alot of disasters....... like the Nuclear bomb that went off in Japan during World war 2. and lake errie all the pollution thats in that lake is killing tons of people. But world war 2 started with Hitlers dream of the perfect people. and pollution is the waste product of ambition to get rich.... so maybe the worst thing humans did was to have a goal.

I think the worst thing we've done (and it started here in the U.S.A.) is to sort of get ourselves stuck in the crappy....creepily "1984"-like rut of a life...and then forcing that way of living on the rest of the world through outsourcing. And the entertainment thing someone said before...lol I don't mind it that much...but I think the real worst thing we've ever done is going to happen in the near future and it's right under our noses this whole time...in history, literature, etc. A huge downfall (World War III??? You tell us when you're ready Kim Jong) is almost at hand, and it's because we're distracted from real problems by "bread and circuses", which was the main governing strategy of the Roman Empire....right before it fell to mere barbarians. History really is doomed to repeat itself....
