What do you think is the worst things humans have ever done?

A few things:
1. Genocide. No other species kills each other like this. Smartest species my ass.
2. Pollution. No other species has such a parasitic relationship with the Earth.
3. Intolerance. No other species hates another group of their species just for being different, even if no one is being harmed.

Good things:
1. Medicine
2. Diplomacy
3. History
4. Economics
5. Mathematics
6. Anthropology
7. Archaeology
8. Language

etc.

I don't think we've done anything that bad yet. The worst things we probably do is follow orders simply to prevent future backlash.

i.e. Police office obeys police captain, police captain obeys chief of police, chief obeys mayor, mayor obeys governor, governor obeys president.

Millions of people obey a single one, not out of fear of the one at the top, but out of fear of the one directly above them.

But when I think of a better system, I'll let you know :p

I have to agree, nukes are probably the worst thing. For the first time in history, human beings can instantly destroy most human life on the planet. Ever since their invention, we have been living with this potential consequence and all of the political troubles it has caused. What is also bad about their initial development was that many of the scientists on the Manahattan project actually believed there was a small possibility that the explosion of an atomic weapon would cause all of the nitrogen in the atmosphere to undergo fusion, effectively destroying all life on the planet. At the time they were afraid the Nazi's would get there first, but considering what they knew at the time it was a large risk to take.

Oh, and I'll bet someone will come along and say, "OMG THE HOLOCAUST 6 MILLION JEWS DIED THERE AND MY GRANDPA WUZ A HOLOCAUSTE SURVIVER" anytime soon now. No offense to Jews, but hey, it happens.

Well, I woudn't be so glib about it. It was bad. At the same time, though, Stalin's purges in the USSR resulted in about 20 million deaths, so they were much worse than the Holocaust.

Humans, in the plural form, do not create war. It's the fucks who think that they need to go to war to solve problems who create war. The soldier does not make war, the soldier just fights it.

Arguably not compared to humans - nematodes don't cut down vast swathes of the earth and then burn it, or make other species extinct (It is in the nematode's interest to keep its host alive for as long as possible)

I would have to say tey are all pretty bad, and as for the Think one, I think (wtf) that we should be able to thinkand not have consequences. Like, being able to say, Omg, 6 x 7 equals 42, but on the other hand being able to know Quantam Physics, Programming, Nuclear Physics, thats too much. We should only be able to think enough so that we are an intelligent species.

Ok, my turn for Worst Thing Ever. It would probably be eating red meat. If we never ate red mate we would not evolve into the extremely intelligent species we are, and therefore not fuck up the planet. However, we were too stupid to know this when we ate red meat at the time, so it was inevitable. And even worse, it is impossible to live a long and fruitful life without eating red meat. So we will continue to evolve and get smarter and smarter, but by the time we are supersmart we will all be dead because of some random thing we did. Maybe too many users on the Interent or something. Massive nuke. I dont know.

Maybe even just existence. But we cant do anything about it now, we should be looking to how to fix those problems we have created. Call me a hypocrite, but we should be fixing these problems instead of whinging about them.

So what is it: evolving or being created as a species set apart from the rest of the animal kingdom, creating society, languange, mastering the enviroment, creating math, literature, history, harnessing electricity and nuclear power, going to the moon, discovering other galaxies, having wars, genocides, curing disease, building cities, etcetera etcetera

This results in problems quite often, yeah. But in general, it's ok, because things like the UCMJ allow soldiers to refuse to follow orders if they're obviously wrong (i.e. "kill that civillian" "no sir.")
