If the song is just the same riff over and over again, like your average 2 1/2 minute rock song, then yes. But if a song goes into immense detail and intricacy, like Sex Degrees of Inner Turbulence, then it works.

I usually find that if you think a song ended too soon (Ie. A change of seasons) that means that the writer/preformer of the song has stopped it there, to keep the listener caught up in the song, if they didn't stop it at a certain point then the song would just finish. Like at the end of Scenes From A Memory when the singer says "Wake up Nicolas", it just ends and cuts to the record making static noises...
But then again if they kept going it would probably still have been kick ass but without a definite ending.

What do you cats think of 'Score'? Personally I think it kicks donkeys bollox its so good but hey thats me....:P

True. However I think most people would have wanted a 'better' set list. But I ask, what IS better? Moving onto A Change of Seasons... I love the EP, not for the title song, but for the live covers. I find a new degreee of respect for a band when I hear them do classic songs justice. Achilles Last Stand and Perfect Strangers are stuff of legends. They also make Bohemian Rhapsody sound good! I never liked the original :)

I admit back in the day Dream Theater did dress kinda gay (just look at the booklet for "Images and Words"), but they've toned down the gayness a lot in the past ten years, and these days just look nothing short of awesome.

I'm usually ok with musicians hating other musicians like the Dave Mustaine and Metallica incident, and there's the DragonForce and Trivium thing, although that was wasn't real, but Mastodon went too far by calling Dream Theater gay and that.

After seeing the Some Kind of Monster documentary I'd say Dave was probably more upset at himself, and jealous (he states if he could go back and change things he would much rather still be a member of Metallica today) than angry at the band itself.

Anyway, to stay on topic... the comments Mastodon made are really just laughable. I've actually seen this with a lot of bands. I just went and saw a local band play and they were bashing a bunch of big bands (Supernova and Metallica to name a few). It's just an ego thing, there really isn't any substance behind it... jealousy in most cases. Honestly, even if you aren't a fan of Dream Theater, there's not many people who could say they don't appreciate how amazing they are as musicians, and if they can, they're probably kidding themselves or know nothing of music. There's no personal bias there.. I swear.. HONEST.

I really wish I could see them in concert. It's funny, when I listen to my iPod, I usually have it on shuffle because I get sick of listening to just one band or similar stuff for too long. Yet, I have no problem going to artists and listening to just Dream Theater songs for hours. Also, Myung is totally a sexy little girl. I mean, what? FUCK.
