Wow, a great line up on that album! I´ve never seen or heard of that album. It´s got nearly all my favourite tracks. It´s only missing Stream of conciousness :(

Ok, this one's a biggy (at least to me)

Me and my drummer mate got into an argument where we basically saw Octavarium and ACoS as two different sides of the same song - He hates Octavarium but loves ACoS, and I... don't really like ACoS, but i love Octavarium.

Which of the two do you guys think is the better song?

I do all my own stunts.

A Change of Seasons is far better than Octivarium bit both songs are incredible.

But their both two of DT's best works and their from different eras. They're both great.

I do prefer ACoS though as its more Awake-y.

You got there in the end, lol. They're both great.

Anyone else looking forward to the next DT album?

I think I was mindblowing drunk when I posted that :P.
So fuck you ;).

Not really. Its far too soon after the previous one so I just assume its Portnoy wanting more money and attention.

Fuck I hate him >:(.

It does seem pretty soon, Systematic Chaos hasn´t been out a great deal of time, but this next albulm is due for summer, so there´s still a good 4-5 months before it comes out i guess.

And Mike ain´t that bad XD

Although it seems a bit too soon to release another album, I'm still looking forward to their upcoming release in Summer. This is their 10th album, so hopefully they're doing something extra special for this one.

He's look a lot prettier though. I didn't like his hair on the last tour. Was too long to look good short and too short to look good long.

My liking of DT is almost completed related to how pretty I find Petrucci :P.

Yeah he was fucking sexy on the Train of Thought tour.
Live at Budokan is basically porn to me. Though as is the tendancy with me I prefer his longer haired, Ibanez playing days around the Images/Awake time.

He shouldn't of swtiched to Music Man, they look boring as fuck.
Do want :(.

When I get a job I'm saving up and buying a JPM, love his signature Ibanez'. The picasso finish is amazing.

Also, did you notice in that picture you posted that he's balding :P.

Yeah, you can pretty much see his scalp there....poor John. Soon he´ll look like Jordan.

10th album teaser

If you remember the teaser they had for Systematic Chaos, they did a similar thing again with their 10th album by playing bits of most or all of the songs on the new album. So far, it sounds good, but I'll need to listen to them entirely to truly know what I think of them.

Well, the little clips sounded pretty good, but like you said, until we hear the whole song we can't really judge.
I don't think DT will let us down though ;)

Source from their official site.

The album title for their 10th album has been announced:

Black Clouds & Silver Linings

Quite an unexpected album title. Then again, it's hard to predict what they choose for their album titles. For the album itself, there'll only six tracks, but I'm still cool with that. Along with the six tracks in the special edition, there'll be a bonus disc consisting of all those tracks in their instrumental mixes and the third disc will have six cover tracks. What those cover tracks will be, we'll have to wait and see.

Although the elephant seems a bit out of the picture, I find their new album cover to be the best since Awake.

The style is definately a nod to the early days.

Yeah it's quite similar to the cover of awake.

As for the elephant, maybe it will make sense once we know what each song is called.

Like on the awake cover there were a few things that could be each song, like, 'The mirror' (there was a mirror on the cover, pretty obvious that one). ' The silent man', could be the staue of a man. The clock on the moon is at 6 o'clock (6:00). And the half reflection in the mirror could be 'innoncence faded' maybe? I dunno, i'd have to listen to the album through again.

But yeah, the new album looks promising!

We do:
1. A Nightmare to Remember
2. A Rite of Passage
3. Wither
4. The Shattered Fortress
5. The Best of Times
6. The Count of Tuscany

Just heard about the new album. I'm excited.

Interesting news seems to be coming out-of-nowhere.

I also just found out that Pain of Salvation will on the the Progressive Nation '09 tour.
Holy shit, they're finally coming back to America. Gotta' buy tickets.

I'm not much interested in joining clubs that are this large, but Dream Theater is the best band I have ever heard, so I would like some advice.

So far I've heard:

Systematic Chaos
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Metropolis Pt. 2 - Scenes from a Memory
and...
Train of Thought

What should I listen to next?

GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- My music - Dr Pepper Crew - Come join my party -

Besides Metropolis you've basically listened to all the second rate stuff.

Get any one of these:
Images and Words,
Awake,
A Change of Seasons (only an EP but the title track is more than worth it).

And this club isn't big... theres like three regulars here who actually post.

Suicidal thoughts(lol) that, I'm guessing, were promptly caused by my anti-anxiety medicine. I talked to my doctor about it and he called in some specialists to interview me and next thing I know I'm under involuntary treatment because they found me to be a danger to myself.

It was nice. I socialized a lot and my doctor prescribed me a smaller dosage of my medication.

Yeah, I'm weird.

I've read in a post further back in the topic that there is a demo version of Metropolis Pt. 2 that is a single track and fully instrumental. Does anybody want to inform me on where I can download it if anybody knows what I'm talking about.
