The Dance of Eternity, Fatal Tragedy, those would have been other good choices for Rock Band 2. However, we still haven't heard which song will be on the new Guitar Hero game, so fingers crossed for any of those great tracks.

You're weird.

If he's weird, then what about Life-Stream? And me? :P

There´s going to be a DT song on a guitar hero game? That´d be cool. I know there are fan made ones that are downloadable (just imagine playing ACoS on guitar hero), but they aren´t available to everyone, and if people don´t know DT they won´t download their songs either.

If he's weird, then what about Life-Stream? And me? :P

Yeah, ToT is a great albulm! Nev just doesn´t want to admit the truth :P

I know we fell out a while ago, but if you think ToT is better than Images then we'll fall out all over again >:(!

There is no way you can like ToT more than Images. You have decent taste and aren't that tolerant of rap and such influences in Metal music. So I don't believe you even if you say you like it more.
You're probably just on your period or whatever ;).

Strange, no talk of Chaos in Motion? Comes out Sept. 23.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_In_Mo tion_2007-2008

DAMN I WANNA HEAR THAT MEDLEY SO BAD.

Also, my friend has informed me that "Constant Motion" is available for Rock Band 1.

Well, there's supposed to be one. So far, there's only a good suggestion that they will be on the game, but I've not heard much about them on Guitar Hero World Tour so far.

I guess I should have made it clearer, but I was more referring to myself thinking 6DOIT is their best album. However, I certainly think Images is better than ToT (SORRY LIFE-STREAM!!!!!!! T_T).

I'd like to hear In the Presence of Enemies as well as the medley. :)

That's true. Sadly, I don't own Rock Band, but that's because of its ridiculous price in the UK. Seriously, it's £180 for the whole lot.

They played that medley live when I saw them.

I accept Six Degrees as a decent Dream Theater album. I just don't like it myself. Well the second disc I heavily dislike. Brings it all down for me. Glass Prison is undeniable great. And I also really enjoy Disappear and The Great Debate.

However, I certainly think Images is better than ToT (SORRY LIFE-STREAM!!!!!!! T_T).

Thank God.

I hope that Dream Theater doesn't turn into Dragonforce because it's in Rock Band now... That would make me heart-broken.

They won't. The different between the two bands (besides one being decent :P) is that DragonForce have always been a kind of joke band about having fun and not being serious.
Dream Theater are a serious and well respected band, they have legions and legions of devoted fans.

Actually what I mean is that I hope it doesn't turn into what Dragonforce turned into in terms of fans. Basically after Guitar Hero 3 was released, all these stupid little kid douches started fanboying Dragonforce. I just hope it doesn't happen with Dream Theater, because I can see how the two bands sound very similar (Dragonforce obviously copied Dream Theater).

It'll happen. But it doesn't matter. They're not fans and they'll grow up and realise that owning one song is different to owning hours and hours of material.
On the other hand it'll introduce many knew people to Dream Theater, and some of those will buy albums and support the band.
Can't be all bad, you've just got to ignore the queers until they're in arms reach of a slapping :P.

because I can see how the two bands sound very similar (Dragonforce obviously copied Dream Theater).

Based on your last.fm profile you're got Octavarium and Images and Words in terms of albums, right?
Err... what part of either of those albums is even remotely similar to DragonForce?
DragonForce is mundane Power Metal, same rhythm in every song, same sound, same structure, same key. Only differing thing is lyrics and maybe Sam will do a solo first instead of Herman.

Yes they both have clean vocals and both have keyboard solos. But beyond that I'm shocked you think they're similar.
Listen to Octavarium (the song) and then listen to any DragonForce song.
Listen to Another Day and any DF song.
Listen to Metropolis and any DF song.

Dream Theater are a Progressive band, there are more musical elements in their songs than notes in Dragonforce's solos. Time signature changes, tempo changes, complex rhythms and structures, interesting and varying lyric matter.
Every album by Dream Theater is different.

I could rant on forever about this, so I will stop. But seriously, listen to each band and look beyond the well produced Metal sound and the fast guitar/keyboard solos. That and each band having an Asian member are the only similarities.

Go see DragonForce live, unless they're all gone sober they'll be shit and you'll lose all interest in them :P.

And I didn't mention this to you in the Muse Crew, but get the A Change of Season's EP because that song is incredible.

Yeah totally Nev, more Dream Theater albums are at the top of my lists of albums to buy. I plan to get Scenes from a Memory and Awake, I don't think I should get EPs before buying all the albums.

Don't consider it an EP but rather and essential Dream Theater purchase. Or just buy the song on iTunes or something, the other songs (covers of Zeppelin, Elton John, Queen and stuff) are irrelevant. But A Change of Seasons is an essential song to have.

You know, I'll just look at that positive side to Dream Theater being featured on Rock Band/Guitar Hero games. If people just listen to the song or two they hear from those games, I won't care about them. However, if they show more interest in the band, great!

Whether it's an EP or not, it's an album to get if you're a fan of the band. The song itself kicks so much ass and the live tracks are nice to listen to. hhcash, despite it being an EP, myself and Nev strongly recommend A Change of Seasons.

I didn't like anything of Six Degrees at one point, then I realised I was stupid as The Glass Prison is obvious great.
After that I had a bit more tolerance and I enjoyed the song on the Live of Budokan DVD.

At least they picked a good DT song. I can't stand when they have boring songs from really good bands on Guitar Hero. I thought they'd pick something like "Innocence Faded" or "Anne Lee".

Ah yes, Pull Me Under for GHWT. Not a bad choice and I expected it to be one of the possible songs for the game. My other predictions were Constant Motion and Forsaken, but Pull Me Under is a better choice. I would have hoped A Change of Seasons or any other 20+ minute epic by Dream Theater, but I dunno how the players would handle a 20+ minute track. :P

Nothing's wrong with Innocence Faded but it's a pretty average song by Dream Theater standards. Considering I think a lot of the time Guitar Hero picks average songs by good bands, I thought they'd choose something in the same vein as Innocence Faded.

I wouldn´t say it´s a pop track, it´s just the song they had most success as a single with. Fawking great track.

Hi there. I have Images and Words, Awake, A Change of Seasons, Train of Thought, Octavarium, and Systematic Chaos.

I like the first two. A Change of Seasons, well, I like the song, but none of the other tracks. Train of Thought is boring and uncreative, Octavarium is boring and shit, Systematic Chaos was alright... But not really my thing.

Should I get Metropolis and 6DOIT? I'm not really considering it but if it's good shit like Awake is then I definitely will.

Octavarium is a good album. And the song is one of the best they've ever written.

Woooooo
Dream Theater!
SO I heard that all of Scenes from a Memory was going to be on either Rock Band 2 or the next GH...
but i doubt they're going to put a whole concept album onto it...

Also, i didn't read all these pages, but quite a lot of people were talking about Dance of Eternity. Fun Trivia Fact - It has 123 time signature changes!

Hey, remember when I kept saying "I'll get When Dream and Day Unite"? Well, I finally got it! :D So far, I'm not enjoying it as much as the other DT albums, but I'll give it chance considering this was made before Images and Words.

That would be very interesting. Imagine playing through all the tracks at once. Heh, and I thought Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence would be crazy enough.

New CDs:
Live at Budokan (only need Score now to have all the official releases)
En Directo (Six Degrees/Train of Thought tour bootleg, from a Madrid show, apparently a broadcast from Radio 3... seems weird to think the BBC would pick up a Dream Theate gig. Unless there is another Radio 3 somewhere).

The album cover is pretty cool, like 6DOIT + Falling Into Infinity and some other weird stuff... mainly 6DOIT though. But I like it. It's my second bootleg too :).
Here's the tracks:
CD 1:
1. As I Am
2.This Dying Soul
3. Under a Glass Moon
4. Keyboard Solo
5. Through My Words
6. Fatal Tradegy
7. Hollow Years (w/ extended solo)
8. War Inside My Head
9. The Test That Stumped Them All
10. Endless Sacrifice
11. Finally Free

CD 2
1. Honor Thy Father
2. The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun
3. Another Day (w/ Living After Midnight teaser (God knows what that song is).
4. Erotomania
5. Voices
6. The Silent Man
7. In the Name of God
8. Metropolis, Part 1.

I always love the live albums with the full Mind Beside Itself suite and Metropolis on :). If anyone wants it, ask and I'll send it to you sometime :).
