I am a geek... and proud :).
AND I have my own house and a girlfriend. I don´t live in my parents basement like a hermit.
You're thinking of nerds.
Geek's are different :P.
On a side note, i havn´t got that first albulm, whats it called?

Dream Theater writing about politics and stuff is not something I care for.
Philosopher and fantasy I find is better for them.
I feel the same way.
I actually meant how the song was constructed.
The Orchestra part was the best.

Though the production put me off it at first.
And Charlie is a much worse vocalist than James.
I actually like the production sound. I really love that 80's sounding production. Sure, it's not the crisp sound of Dream Theater we've become accustomed to, but I love it.
As for the songs, they're pretty good, expecially "Ytse Jam" and "Only A Matter of Time". As much as people make fun of James LaBrie, he's way more suited to DT than Charlie Dominici.
Another thing I found particularly ammusing was the photos of the group in the CD book. Funny shit.

Second, but only by the smallest fraction. Pain of Salvation takes out the title of my favorite band.

Afterlife is really good, and The Killing Hand also.
I think the album has great lyrics, they just all seem really intelligent and flow brilliant, really drawn out and complex.

They certainly are cheese :P.

I'm curious.
What is everyone's favorite Album and song from DT?
For me it's either Metropolis Pt. 2: SFAM.
As for a song - It's a tie between A Change of Seasons, Octavarium and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.

I tried uploading it to youtube but the file is too big. It´s 105MB for the Mike Portnoy drum solo one and it only lets me post up to 100MB. And the change of seasons live on is about 245MB, lol - Mind you it does last 24 minutes.

Try Megaupload or Rapidshare then.
Saying that, there is no chance I'd be able to see it.

Hey chaps. I just brought myself a DT T-shirt. I just had to buy it, because here in Spain it´s not a common sight to see a DT shirt. I was at this market, and in one stall they were selling t-shirts of all groups, mainly famous groups - metallica, korn, led zeppelin - then i just happened to see a DT t-shirt, and i thought WTF! DT arn´t really famous here in Spain, so i just brought it. 10Euros it cost me, which isn´t too bad - about 6 pound. It´s cool too, its got a picture from the Train of Thought albulm of a pair of cupped hands. I would post a pic, but i left it in my brothers car, so untill the weekend, nothing.

I got my first DT shirt about a year ago, and it was pretty weird. My dad just came back from holiday and told me he got me a shirt. To my surprise, it was a DT shirt. It was wierd because I'd never told him I liked DT and where he came from you wouldn't expect to find DT shirts.

I prefer Pt II to be honest, more epic. But Space-Dye Vest is too good :). Good call.

I'd like to join, I'm a pretty big DT fan.
My favourite album is Ocavarium... No, I'm totally kidding. My favourite album is Falling Into Infinity, though Awake is a close second.
My favourite songs would have to be: New Millennium, Trial of Tears, Space-Dye Vest, As I Am and Hollow Years. Although I'm also starting to really like Foresaken off Systematic Chaos.

I like Pt II, but I think Pt I is better. But still, Pt II is pretty epic.
Welcome tired pilgrim, into the circle...
And it is really hard to choose the best songs on Awake. 6:00, Erotomania, Voices, Scarred, Space Dye Vest, they all kick major arse.
