Last night I went to see NIN at the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ! My friend Rob is part of the NIN fan club, so his pass gave us early access to the venue and the potential for a meet-and-greet with Trent. I was really excited for the opportunity to see Trent face-to-face, I was hoping he would see me and say "Hey! You're that dork from my IMDB photo!"
Unfortunately, we didn't get a meet-and-greet but the concert still kicked ass. Trent is all buff now and cut his hair short so he looks like Jack from Lost. The light and video show was impressive. This mesh drops down in front of the band... It looks like a security gate from a store at the mall, but lined with LEDs, so it becomes a giant video screen. It only ran during specific songs and you could still see the band behind it. The effect was intense, especially when combined with the video screens in the backdrop to look like burning embers everywhere on stage.
I happened to be wearing my Newgrounds t-shirt and had ONE spotting from a Newgrounds fan. So if you are that guy who came up and asked me if I was Tom Fulp, THANK YOU for making my night! He was a Firth fan, too.
So anyway... The concert really brought back how much I loved NIN and how much I still love NIN. It was also crawling with PETA petitions, so I'll take the opportunity to give another plug to Trent's PETA campaign. You might have your own opinions about PETA, but I'm hoping you'll agree with Trent's stance on the China cat and dog fur trade.
