Actionscript help!

Hi all. I need help with a piece for my animation.
What i want is a line, where one end remains stationary, and the other end follows a path. Im assuming I have to use actionscripting for it, but ive no idea how to go about it.
I also couldnt find anything about it on the web.
Any help is much appreciated.

unless the path is dynamic im not sure why u dont jus animate the line.

Yeh, the path is irregular.
Its the kinda thing a guide layer would work for but i dont know how to get the line to follow the guide on one point only.
