I don't think it's real, it's probably just a homemade costume. The swastika flag on his arm doesn't look authentic.

Your reasoning is horribly flawed, it's entirely possible that they could have had an electric oven at that time. =)

However we've already decided the picture is more recent both because it's a colour picture and because the child is a perfect mock-up of Hitler, something which would not have been considered during WW2.

You're right, the arms of the swastika are too thin. It was just his parents that thought it was funny and made the costume and took a picture. Maybe an ill-humoured halloween costume.
