Xbox 360 owners: Is it worth it?

Well I recently started working again for the summer and i'm finally making some decent wages for once (it's about fucking time.. grr). Anyway, I've been thinking about picking up a 360 but im not exactly sure if it's worth the money. i found a bundle deal on ebgames.com that is like $499, and includes the good 360 (the one with the hard drive), 2 wireless controllers, a recharge kit, and the media remote. i would also have to get a game, most likely oblivion or maybe PDZ.

i read a lot of info about consoles and know there are a few bugs with the 360. most recently i saw that many people were having problems after the last auto update, but one of my friends also got that update and he has had no problems to my knowledge. his games occassionally freeze and what not but otherwise he has had no real difficulties.

to all of you who have owned a 360 for a while, or perhaps recently just got one, do you suggest i nab one, or wait a bit until ps3 or the wii come out? also, if you do reccommend an xbox, what games do you suggest i should get?

to all the xbox haters, please don't post here saying xbox sucks. im a fan of all consoles and i will most likely buy one of each eventually.

Yes, mine only freezes occasionally, and it really isn't that big of a deal...since it happens so rarely, and never when I'm doing something that is super important. I enjoy my 360 quite a bit.

Its pretty worth it, the graphics are top notch, the controller is much better on the hands and the the system is smaller now, theres nothing wrong with it except if you leave it too long it will overheat and then youll have to buy another 360 which i know you wouldnt anymore since the 360 is pretty expensive.

I had a 360 for maybe a day and a half before seeling it, they arent worth it. My system simply froze constantly(it was brand new) and the graphics were dissapointing at best. But if you swing that way, its a good buy for about 200 dollars or less, if you can find a used for that deal..

well i only use mine for playing pro evolution soccer 5 but you need update to play old games (prick in gamestation told me i could play straight away) and watching dvds because perfect dark zero is shite and so is king kong

As for games, well, it's hard to suggest what games you should get, because I don't know the genres you like...but most people think PDZ was a disappointment, but the multiplayer is pretty prime on its own.

I also own Oblivion, PDZ, Table Tennis, G.R.A.W., Kameo, PGR3, DOA4, GUN, Top Spin 2, NHL 2K6, NBA 2K6, Fight Night Round 3, Amped 3, Call Of Duty 2, Battlefield 2, Full Auto, 2006 FIFA World Cup (not the shitty road to the world cup one), Burnout Revenge, and Final Fantasy XI.

The only must buys out of the group are probably Oblivion, Burnout Revenge and Call Of Duty 2, if you've never played it before...Fight Night is pretty sweet too, but I haven't played it since I beat it. I like sports games a lot, so that's why I own a lot of those.

ehh, at first i wasnt too impressed with the graphics, but after playing one for a bit at my friend's place, it isnt looking all that bad. as far as finding a cheap one, im not the kind of guy who goes on ebay or some place similar to find deals, although that's probably a better idea, lol.

i guess im kind of the stereotypical xbox player... i like FPS's and action games, although one of the main reasons id like a 360 is for the rpg Mass Effect.

yeah, i played a demo of fight night at gamestop the other day. it was really fun, but mostly because the guy i was playing against kind of sucked and i was being really cheap. i love the slow mo replays tho, that's awesome.

if you have broadband you've got no reason to not get one.

there's an awesome summer and fall line up, and its pretty much a perfect console. the inly reason there's such outrage about defective units is because it tells you what's wrong with it- that is if there is actually anything wrong with it.

i couldn't recommend it more, especially now the ps3 is $600 and just going down and down in power and likeability.

Oblivion-i think everyone knows why
PGR3-Realistic as hell, awesome online modes,
Kameo-Beautiful in HD (when goo splats on the screen, you'll feel like you can touch it), 3000 vs 3000 battles.
Table Tennis-Gay when looked upon first, but looks incredibly realistic and is great fun
Fight Night Round 3-The slow mo punches alone are worth the $50
Call of Duty 2-Well balanced achievments, intense gameplay, awesome multiplayer

Games NOT to buy-

King Kong-cheap port that lasts 2 hours
Gun-Cheap port that's ruined the reputation of the 360

i think that it was worth selling my PSP for it (the premium console, of course). I suggest Oblivion, Call of Duty 2, and (believe it or not) Table Tennis. Table Tennis is VERY addictive... I can't stop playing!

I'm going to have to say... no, no it not.
My roomate and I got one a few weeks ago with PDZ, that elder scrolls game, X-men 3 and Call of Duty 2, and so far I'm less than impressed.
IMHO Perfect Dark Zero isn't as good as the first game on the N64.
I just don't get elder scrolls.
X-men was so a waste of 50bux, god, don't even rent it.
I really liked COD2, but it was too short and still not as good as the first game.

Generaly I think you're paying too much for anything x-box 360 relaited. If you're thinking about buying one, I'd wait until the quality of games goes up.

Ive owned a 360 since the month it came out, and i can honestly say, im fairly disappointed.
Ive thought about it for a while. About the cost, how much i use it, how much fun i have etc. and i can't really recommend it to anyone.
I know alot of people like it, but im very choosy when it comes to games i wanna buy, and the 360, currently, has almost nothing going for it for me.
Sure PDZ is fun for awhile online, possibly even a good 50 hours, but i got sick of that after awhile because it became a race so see who could aim at the head faster.
One hit kills everytime unless they have full armor, i swear.
And about oblivion, I was VERY disappointed in it.
The actual story and game were SUPER FUN, but it lacked the one major thing about map travelling.
Now, i really looked forward to this aspect of the game. Sure, run around for a few miles, hunt some deer and what not, but the slowdown and loading just KILLS every ounce of fun i could possibly have in it.
Im not going to even bother with how much the system freezes, especially on oblivion (mostly during loading screens, which by the way, are upwards of 40 seconds long, and theres ALOT of them.)
I also don't like the direction microsoft is headed with the 360.
Pretty much all i can see they have going for them are some big name First Person Shooters. And after awhile, we all would just like to put those away.
Theres not really any good looking games coming out during summer, at least of what ive seen, except for prey. ( Again a FPS).
I don't know, it's your choice.
Someone mentioned that there are some good winter lineups for 360, and price is dropping then too.
If i were you, i would wait.
As for me, I won't get around to winter, because im selling my 360.
I really don't feel i should have to wait for 4-5 months before i can buy a decent game.

I have one myself, and to be honest, do not buy one.. at least not yet. The backward playing of Xbox games is limited, and in a number of the games that actually played, there were many glitches. Despite the fact taht i love my copy of oblivion to death, i do not believe you should plunk down the money just for that game. Wait until the other systems come out or until Microsoft does considerable updating. I like Microsoft, but the 360 is not all it's cracked up to be..so be warned.

Elder Scrolls-fair enough, rpgs arent for everyone
PDZ-not the most replayable game in the world, and the achievments are pretty impossible
COD2-what difficulty did he/you play it on? its only really worth playing through on hard or veteran difficulty.

one last question. is it on a HDTV or SDTV? HDTV really improves it-to go over old ground again.....in kameo, after killing a bug of some sort, gooey blood will splatter onto the screen. you could swear you could touch it if you didn't know it was a game. or you might turn around and scream "DUDE! YOU SNEEZED ON MY TV!" to find no one behind you..........[insert twighlight zone music here]

Yeah it is verry worth to buy. Some PS3 fans would probably say that the X-box 360 sucks, and they will be saying bad things about it that is not tue. Like that it gets messed up in less than a day, and that it freezes a lot of times but it is not true. If you buy it you'll see all those lies they tell about it is not true. :)

that is a good deal the platnium package doesnt come with the charger and it only comes with one controller and remote get it. also I say PDZ collectors edtion of the Elder Scrolls Collectors.
