awesome. Thanks.

As mentioned before, uTorrent implements both UDP and TCP, so choose "BOTH" when it asks what type of protocol you want to use.

Thanks again. That has made such a difference to my download speed. Im getting 80 kB/s on average now instead of around 20 kB/s before. thanks a lot.

Im having problems with my download speed again. It just caps at 18 kb/s no matter what im downloading. Ive checked and the port is forwarded properly, and ive tried changing the port as well. Ive looked through all the setting sand there is no setting in place that could be limiting my download speed any ideas?

Ok, I have absolutely no time to read all this so lemme just ask: every time I try downloading something on the original one EVERY SINGLE UPLOAD won't work. How the hell do I make it work?

Its probably because there arent enough people seeding. If the website you got it from allows you to post comments on the torrent download page, post one asking someone to seed it for you.

There's nothing wrong with downloading torrents. Bittorrent has been given a bad name because of all the Illegal and pirated content that is downloaded with it. As long as you only download legit, there's no problem at hand.

Try torrentspy , i searched for bible black and there were a decent amount of torrents. you see the coloured bar at the side, download the ones that have a green bar and if you want one that has no seeders, when you click the link for the torrent, the next page has a space for comments so you can ask for people to seed it for you.

Solidone, please chill out with the illegal talk here man.

Take it to a PM or an IM or an email if you're going to be downloading non-legal stuff, k? Don't wanna see my thread locked over something so trivial as that.

alright man great guide here. I have a question about your port part however (try saying port part 5 times fast). Now when I choose the port I want to use should I just choose a number in the 10k area? like the random number 16094? and if I want more than one port to be used would I just say 16094-16104?

If you would like to discuss something do not hesitate to contact me

try and choose one above 16k, i dont know why this is. I've just read a few times that this works better. 16094 looks good to me. I'm not sure about using more than one port though, why would you want/need to do this? I've never talked to anyone about it before so i dont even know if you can use more than one port.

I was just thinking Maybe I can optimize space and traffic by letting information flood into my computer with more than one port open. Kinda like in an irrigation ditch

Most current popular torrent programs (BitTorrent, uTorrent, Azureus, BitComet, burst!, what have you) use only one port, sometimes two (one for TCP and one for UDP). However, the older (but still very popular) BitTornado uses 10 different ports in succession (e.g.; 16094, 16095, 16096, 16097, et cetera).

And it won't really increase your traffic anyway, as BitTorrent utilizes most of your bandwith as is.

When I download a torrent and put it through Bittornado, Do I have to save it to a disk.

Also, can I get viruses from .torrent files?

you can save it anywhere you want.

possibly , but make sure you pick a torrent that looks reliable. A torrent with plenty of seeders and downloaders is probably not going to be a virus.

I get this the odd time as well. I do not know what causes it, it just means that you cannot download that particular torrent at the current time. Try a different torrent or try again later.

I have never heard of this file type. I googled it and what i found does not look to be related to torrents. What type of torrent were you trying to download? Audio, video etc. Was this the only file you got or are there others? that came in the same torrent as this .uit file?

I don't know why you would have that...usually that pertains to XML-related stuff for webpages & such... o_O

Not the .torrent file itself, though what you download that comes out of the .torrent file could have a virus. I don't see it happen very often though, much less often than on Gnutella (such as LimeWire or what have you).

Fucking awesome. This post helped me a lot. I use torrents all the time. Mostly watching Naruto Shiippudens. Shut the hell up, I'm not a Narutard!

Watching Naruto online like that makes you a Narutard, Narutard. Not that there's any problem with that.

Anyways, I've tried a few of the clients here, so I feel that I should be able to offer my opinions and observations on each of those I've tried. uTorrent was OK, except that it had major problems connecting to seeds. By which I mean that there were, like, 100 seeds and the program couldn't connect to a single one. Seriously, I just had to uninstall it. Next I tried Vuze, the new name for Azureus. That worked for connecting to seeds and peers just fine, but I just didn't like the layout. Friends, video content, what the fuck, I was trying to download shit, not join some Web 2.0 community. BitLord actually worked best for me, I know Buddhist said it sucked but I kinda liked it. I'm trying BitComet right now. It doesn't look so bad, really, though some stuff did pop up in the corner. Yeh, I kinda like this one, I'll stay with it for a while.
