Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you've all been waiting for... We've launched the Private Messaging system!
The PM system is one of those features that was supposed to launch an eternity ago, but was never quite finished. Now it is! You can access your inbox by logging in to your Grounds Gold account and clicking the ACCOUNT OPTIONS button.
Private Messaging is now integrated in profiles, Flash Portal view pages and the BBS, in lieu of email addresses. Over time, we will be improving the implementation so that private messaging is a more useful part of the site. Consider this the introductory phase.
Expanded features are on the way, such as the ability for artists to send notifications to users who have them marked as their favorites. If anyone wants to lend a hand by preparing a "help" page, we haven't actually bothered to make one yet. Something with pictures would be cool, although we'll end up having to replace them after the upcoming site redesign, which will extend to the PM system as well. Gotta love progress! For a while, we planned to hold off on PM until the CSS redesign. It will be a few months, so we decided not to wait.
The default PM setting in your profile is to accept all messages, but not everyone will want to participate in this system, so you have three options - the default, accept messages only from those in your contact list, or switch off private messaging altogether. Don't be too afraid by all of this, either - you can block users on an individual basis.
