The XBOX 360 is called that because the microsoft thought it sounded inovative and cool. They thought the name somehow represented the system and would cause people to buy it. Given the fact that its not actually round, I doubt it has anything to do with its shape, though saying they've come full circle and had a better idea might be on track.
