I'm looking to buy a MIDI keyboard in the 25-36 key range to hook up to my computer that won't break my wallet. How many of you use MIDI input devices and what would you recommend?

If you're really low on budget, go out and buy one of those home-keyboard things like what yamaha and casio make that have a midi output. You can get a decent 41 key one for under $100, and they have midi in/out to boot.
Drawbacks would be they are cheap, therefore the weighting on the notes is normally far off, not all of them can do touch sensitivity or have foot pedal inputs, and most importantly they are a lot bigger than most midi controllers, so you would need them out the way, possibly on a stand.
The Korg K25 is a cool one. It even has a joystick controller, and only costs $100. Also, you get the M1 Le VSTi synthesizer, which is probably nice.
evoluton 449c
49 keys, 8 knobs n sliders, can probably do cool stuff but i dont know what yet :S
Not sure on the price, got mine a bit cheap. www.thomann.de might still have them.

I have the 449C. I got it for a little over $200 (I think). It has alot of features that I don't even use. I don't really know what I would use them for., hah.
I would suggest a simple MIDI controller. More features means more money. But, it all depends on what you're going to be using it for.
I reckon it could be used as a master trigger device, meaing you could use it for live time effects on recordings or automation :S
Tbh i dont even know what the extra features actually are. I've not seen the manual in weeks n didnt get it at first anyway :P
I'd primarily use it for the entry of melodies into Finale. And maybe some twinkling here and there. I just need something durable, reliable, and not too costly.
Ok, well yamaha, casio and evolution have been recommended, tho i dont know much, i just know my keyboards far cooler than i am.
i recommend hitting google and trying for the things you want.
I recommend getting one with pitchbend and a modulation wheel if you want to have vibrato.
