Hey guys and gals.. I just thought I'd let you know that my band, Decades of Silence, just recently finished our debut ep entitled "The Epitome of a Complete Mess". We're in the process of printing cds to have available for purchase should any of you wish to do so but untill then you all should check out our tunes posted on the internet. 2 of the 6 songs are available on each page:
Decades of Silence on Myspace
Decades of Silence on Purevolume
Just to let you know, we're from Calgary Alberta, Canada.. We've been a band (with these people in particular) for about 5 months, and we would be labled as Screamo//Post Hardcore// Metal. Enjoy! Any and all comments are appreciated.

The guitar sounded good, just unfortunately the screaming blew.

Are you just not a fan of screaming? Or do you dislike our singers style of screaming? Just out of curiousity..

The screaming itself just doesn't sound right. It would be good if the music itself sounded different and vice versa.

Why does everybody waste their time with screamo music?

....is it that hard to melodize words?

The lyrics sound like a pocessed cat screaming satannic messages. But other than that, it was cool. But I've written a few songs, so if you'd like...

But you'd have to give me credit.

Reminds me of a slower Fear Before The March of Flames, the screaming is excellent, i would personally love it if it was a tad bit faster, all in all, it sounds great.

Hey man, your just what I am looking for.

I am starting a website... actually its already up but I'm still working on the content of the site... but anyway... just for this. I will host your band, a biography, a short "review" of what I think of you, pictures of yall, and up to two songs.

Free.

You can check out what I have here. You can go to the music section, then to the band called "The EPS." I have all of their stuff up except their songs, which were recorded this weekend and will be up next Monday.

If you're interested, leave a reply or IM me at binjinpurj on AIM.

Thanx

~ Zakk

The music sounded good, the vocals on the other hand... Not so much. Now I don't hate screamo, so don't think I'm just saying it because I don't like screaming (I like plenty of bands that do scream enough), it just doesn't seem right. The song Dyin' Young Aint So Bad would be so much better if you change the lyrics a bit, and actually sang it, either that or fixed the yelling so it sounded like it actually melds with the music to make a song, rather than a scratchy mix of notes and words, you know?

I'm not really a big fan of hardcore, but this is alright, although some of it kinda sounds rubbish. I think it's a pretty decent attempt at a band, but I really hope you can do better.

I like it, the sreaming/singing is great.

This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

Wow... It seems everyones been split into one of two groups - Those who are into the metal scene and enjoy screaming.. And those who either don't mind screaming or cant stand it. Either way, my band has done what we intended. We combined alot of alternative/punk guitar with metal influenced vocals. Dyin' Young is the clearest example of this. We enoy it, our fans enjoy it, it's what we'll continue to do except in the future the music will be on the more metal side. Also we'll introduce alot more actual singing. Thanks for the comments.. the constructive ones atleast. Comments such as "hardcore sucks" really do nothing but lower respect for yourself. Honestly. Who can take you serious if you give mindless, immature input like that?

Anyway..
To BinJinPurj aka Zakk;
Though the link you posted didn't work, we would be glad to set up some sort of interview and provide you with some media to go along with it. We can disguss this all further via email. Open_wounds69@hotmail.com (Brett - Lead Guitar/Back-up Screaming).

And.. to those who care;
I have to say.. the ending of Dyin' Young (Aint so bad) when the guitar comes in with the bass.. was the hardest thing on the entire cd to record. We played it about 10 times faster then we ever did before and only using down stroked picking on the strings that fast was nearly impossible. It took me soooo long to get it. Ugh. I hope you all find it amusing lol. Look forward to possible video sample from our live performances and maybe a demo of an "in-the-progress" metal song. Thanks.

You guys are pretty good... but I'm not much of a fan of the screaming. Everything else is great though.

Yelling into a mic incoherently doesn't say shit about you musically, stop making up words. You aren't metal either.
Other than the pretentious mislabeling it didn't sound so shit.

Excuse me 'brah' but SCREAMO** is a genre. You obviously haven't got a clue about the hardcore/metal scene and if you payed attention to some of the riffs in our songs you would realize that there is a definate METAL influence. Also, I didn't say we were metal, I said we were going to be leaning more to the metal side in the future. Open your eyes and read before you open your mouth.

** Screamo: Screamy emo music. Generally higher pitched screaming with a more punk influenced guitar/bass line. Lyrics are influenced highly by emotional times in life. See the songs "Hopeless" and "Dyin' Young Ain't So Bad" for examples of Screamo.

P.S. I'm so metal I bleed mercury.

Pretty good , but i agree with the other people , you should make it so that the vocals blend in with the music or something like that.

PS to the other guy : Your brothers band pretty good too
