Sounds like a fun idea. I'm probably missing something (I haven't read all the posts) but who chooses the winners?

I'd like something to do with this, maybe website design or something.

Not to sure yet, thats the idea of this thread to get peoples thoughts, so if you've got an idea spread it :p

Yah sure defiently, you can enter if you want. I want everybody who wants to to enter. I dont really want it to be all about who is the best by finding then number one person by the end, thats why British mooses levels within the league idea is good.

Alot of the ideas so far are in my head still, as some simple stuff that i take for granted about how im basing it on the FA English leagues, other people wont know. So you could especially help that way as you're English.

I guess this could be a good idea : when a match ends, both submissions get on a page, frontpage or voting page whatever, for people to vote on wich one is the best, or give ratings to each movie, and "Official Judges" would, together, count as 50% of the votes, or whatever.

Well it would go by goal difference.. Wait. Good point, this could rely on what JPI said (having points for each catagory (style, art, animation etc) then whoever has the most overall?)

No, I mean, waht if the overall is the same? Both entries win? or they get another round?

Maybe each judge would have 3 points (so with 5 judges, total of 15 points available) to who they think deserves it (points being "goals", so if two artists have the same ammount of points from wins, there'd hopefully be a difference in the "goals" they "scored" throughout the matches).

Therefore to win you'd need a minimum of SEVEN points from the FIVE judges. On getting SEVEN (or more) points in total from the judges, you'd receive 3 match-points.

SO:
Points for a win = three MATCH-POINTS.
Points given by judges = each of the five judges has three FACTOR-POINTS

This system would mean that there'd be no draws, so maybe the loser could receive one match-point for taking part.

Just thinking xD

It's a good idea, but it doesn't work because:

The idea in points(or one of them) is to determine who would win in a draw in position in the table (NOT draw in the match). If each judge had 5 points and they had to give out each point, this would mean some peeps would end the season with equal points.

What JPI said is simillar, but what happens is the judges give them points based on attributes, like the newgrounds review system. Then these points could be totalled at the end, then the judges could evaluate them and see which person was above.

Fine by me.

- Having one league table, but levels within the league, for example, you enter at newbie level along with 4 other people, you all still battle every one in the league. The difference being at the end of the 'season'(lol :P) there would be a winner of the newbie catagory, a winner of the intermediate, and one for pro.

I think you should have 3 different leagues, and they fight only each other, and at the end of the "season" (like, only a month or so) the winner of that division moves up. The winner of the Advanced catagory should be able to fight the other advanced members of the previous season, and at the end "defend his 'title' " to the up-and coming champion. (one with the most or second-most [if the champ has the most] wins)

- How long people should have to make there entries? One day? Two days?

Two days, it will give people more of a challenge, yet give them a bit of time to do it.

- Should there be agendas set for each match?

No.

- There would be a 'council' who decides who wins, i'd pick 'em.

Good idea, only the council should vary from time to time to keep from biased opinions. And get a nuetral part, like recruit council "members" for the next season in a seperate thread.

- Anyone will be able to join. Really, even ASers who wanna try there hand at drawing

Good idea, I actually like that thought.

- Home and away matches? This could work, maybe the person who is 'home' picks the
theme, so they have a better chance, then vica versa when they played each other again later on.

Very good idea.

I hope this works out, I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks, you covered alot of stuff.

I like the idea of having seperate divisions (leagues) but theres a few problems

- Short season length (although this could be a plus)
- People not wanting to catagorize themeselves the best, or the worst.
For this im thinking I and the judges could get a word in on who goes were, so this isnt such a biggy
- Not alot of choice in people playing friends and so on.

Actually, even after making and still posting the little list above, i think it is a good idea. Shorted season would be good, the joy of moving up, and trying to fight to stay up, and more champions.

Thanks :D

I'll pick the judges i've got a good idea in mind. Better if you don't ask because i'm going to ask for people who i think have different ideas, for example:
- Someone who represents an average person watching a flash who doesn't have any flash skill
- A Flashspert
- A good artist to judge the art more fairly

And so on, it wont be so much, "K i'll have Inglor and Denvish cus they iz pro's, den frosty cus he is my buddy".

MSN/AIM me if you're intrested in judging if you want, but at the moment keep the topic clear.

I think judges have to decide in wich category an entry goes, because there could be people who get in the newbie level (maybe thinking they're newbies) and kick every newbie's ass. You should make example animations for each level to set a standard.

This sounds really cool, I would definatley like to join if possible :)

2 days seems like a fair time for the entries to be sent in, if it would be 1 or 2 hours I just think the entries will be really rushed and not that entertaining to watch.

Why not recruit from the Reviewer's Club ? There, you will find the largest group of unbaised evaluators on NG. Not only do many of the members have the highest amount of reviews among their NG peers, they also aren't afraid to go indepth in their explanations. Moreover, they'll be more than agreeable to offer genuine constructive criticism, which could make this Flash League all the sweeter of an experience.

i think battle tread is great becus eits like teh artest tread.. you do it when ya fele like it. you enjoy watching when ppl anime,...exepcial when they are rushed, and dont really care.. its just fiun.

plus the short 2 hour 4 hour battles really was good practiise...

i wish ppl would just stop monkeying with teh freestyle battles.. and just let it be

Good idea.

Just so you know, people who are asking if they can enter: everyone can enter. Thats why the different tables idea would work.

I got an idea for you Mog...
I know you said about different leagues, and that could be a problem because people couldn't play each other...
Lets think then, how do the english teams solve that ?
CUP MATCHES !

sorry :P

Anyway, you could organise a Flash Leauge Cup Match throughout the season.
It could work jsut like the FA cup, with the big boys not coming in until round 3 or something.

That would be cool, but it may be more trouble than the league is. Would be cool, so if the first attempt at a league goes well, it could come in.

well the problem is that some people have lives outside of flash and cant do a 2 day challenge because of school or work.
so maybe that should be a categorie that people enter if they dont have a lot of freetime on their hands.
also you should have more specific categories eg. sprites, sprites that the authour made, anime( i dunno if that will be popular), games, fbf, tween, fbf and tween...the list could go for a while. but basically pick some stuff like that for categories.

But that defies the point of it - it's meant to be a challenge, not easy.
