Whether the connotation commonly designated to the term "murder" is justified to give to soldiers is open to debate. I'd say that they don't deserve ridicule, as war is really quite natural to us as a species. If they fuck up, sure, individuals can fuck up. But soldiers in general do not deserve derision.

Not that I'm for war, as I'm truly quite against it. It unfortunately has purpose though; no matter your standings you must realize the logic in this. It's as natural to mankind as building shelter.

They are murderers if they do collateral damage, which most terrorists do.

denfined by internatioal law, soldires has the right to go on the offencive and take lifes in order to save lifes. The whole "bush" thing was just a PR stunt that went wrong and now the internation population is stuck whith the clean up. There are laws agenst useing certen weapons, such as cemicals and flamethrowers, the Geniva Resolution or whatever it was called.

Actually no. The legal definition of murder is the unlawful intentional killing of another human being. As long as there is no violation of the Law Of Armed Conflict (LOAC) or the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) a soldier shooting another person is not committing murder.

This is a problem right there. There is no such thing as international law. Yes people use the term "international law" from lay men to lawyers, professors and politicians. However, no such thing actually exists only a system of international treaties. This system is very weak because the community of nations does not exist in a system where there is an organizied structure that can exert its will/justice on the nations of the world. Thus the international community essentially exists in a system of anarchy.

And in a system of anarchy there is no law...only tenuous agreements between parties that are either equal or unequal to each other.

This is where most people lose their way. they are murderers. just beacuse they kill in the name of their country doesnt mean all is forgivin. Sure "god" had battles and waged war but his battles, if they ever happened, were against evil. Not for the gain of one country over another. This is the classic american mindset though. it is our job to do god's work.

The thing is, US soldiers (and their allies) aren't just running around killing innocent Iraqi citizens on sight. They are killing violent guerrilla fighters that are making Iraq an un-peaceful place to live.

Aside from all the other problems this war has caused, I'm sure that most Iraqis are happy to see these people killed.

first of all, soldiers arent murderers. they are sent by thier country to kill one another for land, riches, and other things that you need to be alive to enjoy. i hate the fact that the crusades were considered "holy wars" because every time somone asked them why they did it, they would say "it was in the name of God", which i believe to be a load of bullcrap. in no religion does it say "god will take full responsibilities for the ones killed" nor "its okay to kill if someone tells you".

second, the governments and its countries are the murderers. they sent the men to die and kill.

ASSASSINATION -noun- for one to summon others to kill the assigned target.

compare that to this:

WAR -noun- the strife bettween two or more over political, social and benifitial matters by sending soldiers to fight in the countries place.

they are basicially the same thing. they both are consuming life by someone elses hand. and isnt assassination illegal?
