Yes and no. I can see how you feel they're getting worse, but I think that a lot of that is due to gaming becoming more mainstream. Now a lot of development is focased on graphics or shock value or what have ya. We are seeing some really break through games though, but they're in short supply. What sickens me is seeing a company like Nintendo (a company that not only kept gaming alive in the past, but is the stuff I grew up on)having to struggle to sell some top notch games all because too many people think of it as a childs toy. Any true gamer worth his salt should know that's not true.

Again, I atribute this to gaming going mainstream. The casual gamer doesn't want to take the time to learn how to play the game well, and they want games they can beat in less than 8 hours.

a main reason for this is save game features
many people hate having to start from the beginning, so developers make it so you can save, and if you die or whatever, you can resume where you left off

I remember many older games that once you died, you had to start allll over again
so it was a real accomplishment once you got to level #

just think how long it took you to beat super mario bros

Gamecube = Dreamcast

Nintendo sales downgraded by world’s biggest third-party publisher.

Things are getting bleak for the GameCube, with more symptoms of Dreamcast syndrome being noticed overnight, sparking widespread alarm throughout the alarmingly loyal Nintendo fanbase.

Indeed, Electronic Arts, the largest of third-party publishers, has downgraded its GameCube sales prediction from 20-25% growth to 15-20% in a move not seen since the demise of, well, various Sega machines.

This news sent Nintendo stock into freefall, losing 6.4%, despite the Japanese giant buying large amounts of its own stock in the open market.

In my opinion, there's no point in getting all worked up about hating one system or overly liking another. I own a Cube, and I think it rules. For me it's not about whether it'll die in six months or become the best selling thing in the world ever, it's about me sitting there staring at a screen for hours on end and loving it. If the Cube fails to sell, fair enough, obviously there's better consoles out there. I've just always stuck with Nintendo cos, to me, they make the best games. If you wanna rule how you play games by how well the console sells, go ahead. I just wanna play rocking games.

First off, Gamecube is doing "that" bad. It's sales aren't as good as the other two, but it's still selling decently. And besides, Nintendo still has the GBA, and that little sucker is a gold mine for Nintendo. If Sega had something like that, they'd probably still be in the console war.

Gah!....Sorry, I miswrote that last post. What I meant was Gamecube "wasn't" selling that bad.

I'm not talking about the GBA.
What I'm saying is, here we have EA, the largest 3rd part publisher, basically saying that their games dont sell on Gamecube, so they had to lower their estimates. This means, EA isn't going to be supporting Gamecube in the future. Already, Sega said the same thing, THW did too. Losing that support, the only people making games for nintendo will be nintendo. In which case it isn't enough to sustain the cost of them producing the console, and they will discontinue it. It's frightening how everything that happened to Dreamcast in its dying days is happening to Nintendo after being out for just a year or so.

You can think GC isn't doing to badly, but when your stock plunges, and your investors start unloading their shares like a hot potato, there's some deep trouble in Marioland

Even so, the GBA sales will help to make up for losses felt with the Gamecube. As for third party development, have you seen some of the stuff that Capcom is putting out on Gamecube?

I love my PS2, but if Nintendo ever went out of business, I don't think I'd even be all that interested in gaming anymore. Nintendo is one of the very few developers that still know how to make games the RIGHT way. Not having to focas on violence to make a game fun.

Plain and simple, i dont like the gamecube...
XboX i like, its pretty good but the system freezes/overheats alot and there arent enough games.

My favourite is ps2... It might not be the best for some things, but its not the worst... its got an amazing amount of games, and you can play dvds
