I for one, want the classical section REVAMPED! 70% of the songs in there are NOT easy listening, and orchestrated orgy.
You know, what people call "classical" nowadays is any European-style music from a period of about 600 years (although technically it should only be the European music from 1750 to 1827). Classical music has no obligation to be "easy listening" - a lot of it is exactly the opposite, and listening to classical music often requires much more of the listener than any other music genre today, meaning that it's hardly "easy" listening.
It's "easy listening" only to those who have no idea how to listen to it.
Anyway, I've just submitted my first song here... I see there's some kind of debate about whether there should be songs on the audio portal which aren't meant to be used in flash. The thing is, I don't know of any other site that offers what the audio portal does... so I submitted a song here. I think that good music should come first, and "appropriateness" later. You can technically use any kind of music in a flash, so I'm not sure why the argument is even here.
The audio portal really does have a lot of flaws (the biggest are that I can't see a list of my own reviews and don't have a favourites list), but it still seems to be a website with a lot of potential.
The classical section does need to be revamped, I agree. How about categorizing it by instrument? String, piano, trumpet, etc... or perhaps by style. Unfortunately I have a feeling that the admins don't know nearly enough about classical music to know how to do this properly, but it's a thought... some collections (like on the flash portal) would be nice too.
It would also be really great if your level contributed to how much your vote counts, as it does on the flash portal.
Anyway, sorry if this has all been mentioned already many times.
