Newgrounds audio is definatly the best.

Sure, it has its problems, but unlike websits like acidplanet etc, it wasn't created with money in mind. This tiny difference has lead to a very tight community, whereas in forums like OCR you feel like a small fish in a big schoal, here everyone knows everyone and the inactivity is often the best feature.

Yeah but in many cases it's overrated as well. At my site, SIX1 Studios, just to show how much I care about my artists, I'll be making a SIX1 Studios CD featuring 12 of the artists early next year.

You come to make music, "OMFG, ratings and praise mean everything to me, I'm not doing this anymore."

That's why quantity of downloads are the only judge of a song's worth, because it shows how many people like your stuff enough to put it on their hard drive! Screw reviews and votes!

They do have a point, you didn't specify in your post that you were leaving only the AP, you said "This place".

You know, what people call "classical" nowadays is any European-style music from a period of about 600 years (although technically it should only be the European music from 1750 to 1827). Classical music has no obligation to be "easy listening" - a lot of it is exactly the opposite, and listening to classical music often requires much more of the listener than any other music genre today, meaning that it's hardly "easy" listening.

It's "easy listening" only to those who have no idea how to listen to it.

Anyway, I've just submitted my first song here... I see there's some kind of debate about whether there should be songs on the audio portal which aren't meant to be used in flash. The thing is, I don't know of any other site that offers what the audio portal does... so I submitted a song here. I think that good music should come first, and "appropriateness" later. You can technically use any kind of music in a flash, so I'm not sure why the argument is even here.

The audio portal really does have a lot of flaws (the biggest are that I can't see a list of my own reviews and don't have a favourites list), but it still seems to be a website with a lot of potential.

The classical section does need to be revamped, I agree. How about categorizing it by instrument? String, piano, trumpet, etc... or perhaps by style. Unfortunately I have a feeling that the admins don't know nearly enough about classical music to know how to do this properly, but it's a thought... some collections (like on the flash portal) would be nice too.

It would also be really great if your level contributed to how much your vote counts, as it does on the flash portal.

Anyway, sorry if this has all been mentioned already many times.

yeah well on ng i dont think there is much difference to most users, its a site where people show off there movies of video game characters being raped by each other, not so much a site that works to let musical artists seperate there bebop from swing from latin fussion into the proper jazz category.

It's been hashed and rehashed considerably. You're not alone in thinking this, but revamping all the genres would be a lot of work, and I think there are more useful features that could be added with the time it would take to revamp the genres.

Personally I agree with you, but I just want other things more.

Well if Tom, Wade or LilJim would talk to me, I'd be more than happy to revamp the section.

Actually..let's be honest. Some of the audio tracks on NG are good, but a shitload more are like "Why the fuck would you even post that?"

Like it's that bad. But some people actually like it.
