how to compress my song I made and it says I can't compress everytime I try to so.... just wondering if I was doing it wrong.... (new to audio stuff)

Simply download a wonderful little program called goldwave from Goldwave.com... (be sure to download the mp3 codec thinger as well)...

Load the file into goldwave... then when saving it... choose a lower sample rate... which will reduce quality but make it smaller (compressing).
