After many warnings there are still users voting 0 on many new submissions that end up being protected with scores over 3.00. Movies such as those that grace the front page are being voted 0 for no reason (when they were originally submitted and under judgment). Our only guess is these people are just voting 0 on everything coming into the Portal to try and rack up BLAM points. These people are now being punished by having their experience points reset to 0 so they can do minimal damage. We may also reset BLAM points as well.

Again, most of you have nothing to fear. It is only those that vote 0 without watching what they are voting on. So if you think you may have done this, and you're EXP points haven't been reset to 0, STOP NOW and you will be spared. No one should vote on an under judgment submission unless they have viewed it! It is unfair to our contributors to cast votes on something you don't feel like taking the time to watch, when they spent much of their time creating it! Those who continue to be careless will have action taken against them!

Y'ouch! Wade's bringing the foot down. It may be kind of overbearing, but I hope it brings about fair and objective voting.

just to let you guys know, I only rate things 0 when they are absolute crap. and it's usually the things that are 2 seconds long and have shitty graphics or pornographic images. which in my opinion, pales in comparison to all of the qualityt stuff on this website. i'm sure that all of you would agree that when someone's stuff gets blammed and they put the same thing up 2 or 3 more times, it's kind of annoying. but most of the time i can tell when something has taken a lot of hard work and effort. ok that's my 2 cents. take it or leave it

Most flashes that are coming in are all above 2.00 I like this because now there are better flashes out there. I am now seeing a lot of 1.80 though, are voters now going back to voting with 0's? I do vote fairly and I would hate for all of my exp. points taken away from me just for voting a 0 on a flash.

One question, what about movies wit ha file size of 9k? I mean come on, why would we have to bother watching that? You know it can't be any good. But I supose you are talking bout movies that are better than a blank screen. If so, that is ok. I trust your judgement.

I think that's very fair. When I vote on a movie, it's only after watching it and really giving it some thought.

yeah, that is kinda sad, blamming before watching, i usually only watch new movies so i can help or hinder them, alotta stuff that comes in that gets blammed is stuff resubmitted or stuff that has no effort, meaning or value, i will only vote zero if i'm offended or if it's utter crap, and you may have noticed i have changed my voting ways since the first warning, so you are getting people to turn, I say add a pic so when their points get reset, their level picture gets labeled with something like [JACKASS] or something like that, to show that person can't be taken seriously/fairly, just an idea

Oh yeah? I haven't met you. How smart can you be? According to your reasoning, I could say that you are the biggest !^#%@ in the world. I'm not saying you are but I based it on your reasoning.
If you Blam ANY movie without watching, you deserve to be punished. What if the movie is a preloader?
Think about it.

NG veterans won't leave the site because of this. They know what kind of hard work goes into making a quality flash movie... and if there are some pathetic losers out the voting 0 on front page quality movies... it would be expected that vets would applaud a measure like this.

It shouldnt drive vets away, on the contrary, this might keep vets and talented flash artists from leaving due to a few immature wastes of jizz voting zero on absolutely everything. It's utterly discouraging to work so hard, sometimes for months at a time on a movie and having some turd vote 0 on it without even watching it just for the hell of it.

I'm all in favor of cracking down on this. Good job.

This is horseshit!

I like Newgrounds, and I like Wade, and I make sure to watch everything I vote on and to vote fairly, but this is garbage.

If you don't like the way the Newgrounds community regulates the Portal, don't leave it up to them to do so. That's not the way this kind of shit works.

Let me offer a parallel illustration. We all know that in gubernatorial, presidential, and other political races, there are morons who feel obliged to vote, but do so completely willy-nilly. They write in Elvis Presley for President and snicker to themselves, and they have every right to do so. The system allows it, and for good reason.

The second we start policing the way people vote, democracy and human rights will be promptly defenestrated. First we start barring drunks at the door. Then we have officers monitor the voters to make sure they aren't voting for cartoon characters or dead celebrities. Then, while we've already stripped away the anonymous nature of voting, our officers streamline the process by offering "disincentives" to voting for representatives of fringe parties. Then -- what the hell -- nonincumbents! Soon enough, it's Wade Fulp, President for Life.

{{Wade}}

Anyway, do I think that Portal regulation wil rob us of our human rights? Probably not, but if it turns into a big thing, Newgrounds is going to start looking like a police state, those of us who started coming here in high school to get away from that kind of crap are going to stop coming, and those Coke ads are going to get a lot fewer hits.

If you at Newgrounds HQ have this concrete ideal system for determining what goes and what stays, cut out the user votes, implement the fucking ideal yourselves, and don't punish your customers for guessing wrong.

On the topic of understanding how much time a Flash designer puts into the Flashs they submit, in review, why don't you guys add an option for the amount of heart/time they placed into it, like for first time submitters, and not having a good rep', people can vote on that, and give it a high ranking, that way it's not completely judged on Graphics alone.

Just an idea, which would help Flash Designers and Programmers get atleast a little respect for their work. Besides, it's not very often a new Submitter can just submit something that they did, and it be as good as the best of the Clock Crew Members, and Synj, and over a hundred others.

It'd just be thoughtful.

Peace,
- Silence.

Okay, first of all there's to say that most of movies under 80kb are just utter crap - but sometimes these are just the preloader of movie (like all the tuti tv stuff) or just the link that opens the actuall flashwork (like of Mind and Machine). On the other hand... if you see that the author makes a comment like "asdffasdafsasdasfadsf" or "OGM BEST MOVIE EVRA VOTE FIFEN" then... aw well...

As long as you only punish those who vote 0 on every movie that comes in and is still under jugdment, I'm glad to see that you are taking action.
